York to Burnley drive - stop off suggestions
Hi all,
My girlfriend and I are over from Australia and we're driving from York to Burnley tomorrow in a hire car for the Utd match (first time at Turf Moor since I was very young and went to an FA Cup match with my dad).
We pick up the car first thing so have all day really. Any recommendations of places to go on the way. My mum grew up in the Skipton area so we're planning in stopping in there.
Thanks!

There’s the Devonshire Arms at Bolton Abbey, or nearer Burnley, several places in Skipton, Tempest Arms in Elslack, Craven Heifer at Kelbrook, Tubbs in Colne, and lots of places in Burnley to eat before the match.
Plumbe Street Miners will be busy from tea time 20p to get in but is cheap for a drink, pie n peas or chip butty and a Bene and Hot before the match.
Enjoy!

P S. Ilkley is on your route - slight detour but superb views from up on the tops and the Cow and Calf rocks. There’s also a Betty’s tea shop on the Main Street and a good Wetherspoons. (Think I’ll write a guide book)

Definitely turn left from Ilkley to have a look at Ilkley Moor.
If you like garden centres with shops attached, there's one called (I think) Stephen Smith's, just before you reach Otley. It also has a cafe that does fabulous cream teas with home made ginormous scones.

Pop into Keehlam Farm Shop it does great food and it's handy being just off the A59 (large roundabout next to Travel Lodge into Skipton).

Slight detour to Malham with the cove, Gordale scar etc and then there's always Bolton Abbey which is pretty much bang on your through route and a few miles from Skipton.

The Tempest Arms between Skipton and Earby always is a cracking place to stop off
