Re: Ederson
Did the ref actually make the decision or was it another VAR inspired decision?

Re: Ederson
Don't know, only saw him walking off.
Penalty now to City - Sterling takes . . . . . . . .
and it's saved !!!!
VAR deemed 'keeper moved and re-take.
2nd attempt, saved, but goal on the rebound.
0-1
EDIT :- For "moved" read "encroached" !!!!!!

Re: Ederson
So has there only been “one” penalty awarded?Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:12 pmDon't know, only saw him walking off.

Sky shows Sterling missing a penalty on 24 and another on 25, then scoring but surely if a retake was awarded then the first miss shouldn’t count (thinking of fantasy football points )

Re: Ederson
It's all a matter of opinion, as highlighted on this thread.
For my money, he deserved sending off, but no penalty at the other end.

I'm just checking VARVegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:31 pmre-take was correct too but what I didn't see a replay of was of the second take - did any City players encroach on that one ?

Re: Ederson
According to Dermot Gallagher it wouldn't have mattered if they had. Last week he said that players would not be penalised for encroachment if their encroachment doesn't give them an advantage.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:31 pmre-take was correct too but what I didn't see a replay of was of the second take - did any City players encroach on that one ?

Re: Ederson
Get used to it, football will never be the same again at the top level because the use of technology will ensure that everything must be 100% correct. They will introduce more and more until they can dispense with onfield officials and everybody will be happy.

Re: Ederson
yeah that's my understanding, but had Bernadho Silva blocked a Wolves player from getting to the rebound for example then I wonder if that would have been given

Re: Ederson
Possibly. If the Wolves player had not touched the ball and let the City player, who had also encroached, score from the rebound, Wolves would have had a free kick.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2019 8:52 pmyeah that's my understanding, but had Bernadho Silva blocked a Wolves player from getting to the rebound for example then I wonder if that would have been given

Re: Ederson
Surely a free kick rather than a re-take as the Man City player would have benefited from getting to the rebound first.

Re: Ederson
It took me a minute or two to suss out how a penalty was being retaken by Sterling when Ederson had been sent off for a foul outside the area.

Re: Ederson
Definite sending off. Keeper done.
Pen soft.
Sterling....worst pen taker ever allowed to take one! His whole body said...the ball is going here, to the keeper.
