The Repair Shop, BBC 1

Post by BigRedrose » Sun Dec 29, 2019 8:21 pm

Is there a nicer programme on tv? Touching human interest stories and fantastic craftsmen and women who produce amazing repairs on treasured family heirlooms. I think the Christmas edition just shown on BBC 1 is the best thing I've watched over the the last week. Would recommend watching on 'catch-up' if you have missed it. Shame the Beeb didn't show it on Christmas day though.

I think it's all a Bit fake Tbh. It's an add on to the Woman turning rubbish from skips into trendy arty farty stuff....at premium prices for the work done then placed in a Brighton Art Deco shop. Pretty much the same "celebs" on both shows. Main thing is YOU enjoy it.

Anyone who wears The Ratter indoors is an impolite poser.

Can't see the similarity with ' Money for Nothing' myself, ( except for the main presenter Jay), but as you point the main thing I enjoyed it. Perhaps I lack your cynicism Tim.

Yes...its one of my traits. But as I said your enjoyment as anybody else's is the thing. In currently watching " last unshown home movies of nazi Germany" on BBC 4

One of the best things on television at the moment. It has the genuine feel-good factor.

Mate.. your schmaltzy sentiments were well intended I'm sure but you have to think about it. Sorry to break the news to you bud, the repair shop is faker than an episode of TOWIE. Cmon fellas, let's try and get a bit more switched on.. We're better than this.

Can’t see how it’s fake. A member of the public brings in an old Cabinet, their staff fix it up and give it back. That’s the show. So what do they use -actors as members of the public? Swap the busted up cabinet for a new one? I Don’t get the fake label. Nice show easy on the eyes.

I record that arty farty programme. Some of the 'upcycling' is good and innovative, but I think I'll cry if I see another piece of scrap with a lampholder soldered on top.

Have you ever seen The Repair Shop, tim ? Its content and resident expert craftsmen/women - "celebs" ? - are nothing those you refer to.

How very amusing Garner, but the repair of the 70's bike was classic Repair Shop fodder.
