Shows that our coaches are well respected if they are being poached by the likes of United.

Re: Mawson goes to United
According to Wikipedia he never played a game for us. Is that right? I'm sure I remember seeing him play, although I also thought he was with us early rather than late 90's so willing to accept my mind is playing tricks on me.
Re: Mawson goes to United
I think I remember him playing in a friendly at Halifax in Ternent’s first pre season.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 30, 2019 5:12 pmAccording to Wikipedia he never played a game for us. Is that right? Can't blame the lad.
Great career move and massive salary rise.

I’m going to assume he’s the only person from Elslack to play professional football.

Re: Mawson goes to United
No disrespect, but you'd presume United could draft in a much bigger and more experienced name.
How can you tell/know how good a youth team coach is from.another club?

Re: Mawson goes to United
Brilliant move for him. Fair play.
Used to coach us as kids when he was in the youth team himself. Was a great coach even back then and a seemingly decent lad. Don't know him well but still seems a good lad now and has clearly done well for himself. Sure he deserves it as even back then you could tell he was a grafter!

Hard work sports science and nutrition..theres no doubting Burnley have had some very good goalkeepers on the books in the past decade...it wasnt a coincidence.

He's done very, very well for himself, especially when you consider he couldn't even make it into our first team when we really were crap. Good luck to him. I wonder if there's a Phelan there connection tbh.

He’ll have a good reputation within the profession. Players, coaches and managers will know who holds clout when it comes to delivering improvements in players

Re: Mawson goes to United
Why is he a big loss? Mercer is the first team coach. Mawson was only ever u23s otherwise known as the underdevopment squad coach.
A big loss to Peacock and Legzdins maybe..
To be honest for him to work with De Gea is a bit of a joke... Could they seriously not get someone better? U23 Burnley coach to first team coach at Manchester United? It's like the accidently employed the wrong man..

Re: Mawson goes to United
Since when has the level at which you played at got anything to do with coaching?
Wenger & Mourinho didn’t play at the highest level but haven’t struggled coaching the “big names”

I think he did plenty of coaching with the first team keepers.superdimitri wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:12 amWhy is he a big loss? Mercer is the first team coach. Mawson was only ever u23s otherwise known as the underdevopment squad coach.

He got a very long nice message off Joe Hart when leaving anyway.

Re: Mawson goes to United
He was always in and around the first team picture. Just Mercer is the more senior coach.

Re: Mawson goes to United
He's very highly rated. And you don't get a coaching job at Manchester United unless you are very good. So yes, a big loss which would be evident if SD were to leave and take his first team backroom staff, including Billy Mercer, with him.superdimitri wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2019 6:12 amWhy is he a big loss?
