Will you be awake at Midnight &....

Post by KateR » Tue Dec 31, 2019 5:38 pm

is anyone planning bed before the New Year?

What will you be drinking and from when?

Sticking to Champaign & wine, and we will see the new year in with friends and family, hopefully not feeling the effects tomorrow!!

NYE is the biggest pile of **** going, pay double for everything, spend twice as long at the bar etc. Only time it was any good was the old rave days imho

I havent done "big celebration" NYE for many years now. I won't be watching Jules's Hootenanny this year either - I quite like Stereophonics, Eddi Reader & Melanie but never heard of most of the rest and cannot abide Stomzy (the political genius).

I'll be having a nice meal and some red wine then 10 to 12 ish, if it's fine, Ill go for a short walk to the darkness of the park with a nice cigar and watch the fireworks & contemplate my place in the universe ;)

I tend not to really participate in stuff like this. It's just another day.

Similar with my birthday, which I spent also doing nothing.

I'm more of an introvert than anything too, so that plays a part, plus the financial aspect of it all.

It's just another way for us to all spend excess amounts of money doing something we can do cheaper the week after.

Different horses for different courses.

Quieter than usual family night as always. Some regulars, ColburnClaret & family have gone abroad, others are down with the awful flu we have over here.
Girls are talking about a pj party? I’ll shock them as I sleep naked.
We will see the NY in. Baby Guiness in hand for me.

Home with the Mrs, not drinking, kids in bed shortly, she will no doubt be asleep by 10, myself possibly 30-60 minutes later.

Have a good one where ever you may be, I’m all partied out for this year. Looking forward to a bright start and a good hike with the family!

I'm staying in too, watching TV. Drinking water and possibly eating 4 burgers like a big fat fat thing, as starting back with the eating sensibly and walking tomorrow.

For me, NYE is severely overrated and just an excuse for pubs to charge entry fees and taxis to double their fares.

Out at eight, in by one, up at eight to drive to the Turf and witness a comfortable victory.

Theres usually at least a dozen at ours for New Year with far too much drink but this year it’s a lot quieter with with just me, Mrs W and a couple of friends, with a takeaway and a few drinks.

Tbh we may not even see midnight

Nothing to drink for me.

I'll be going to bed at 9 o'clock, an hour's reading and lights out at 10.

Up at 6 o'clock tomorrow morning in preparation for travelling down to the Villa game.

Doin nowt, and loads of it. Be in bed before the bells chime. Just another day, another nite.

Tomorrow far more important than tonite, but each to their own. If you’re all going out, be careful, and have a good nite.

Just finished watching random crap on the telly with a few Tetleys.

Not beer, tea!

Don't bother going out nowadays and don't drink in the house.

Enjoy whatever you are doing, stay safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Last time I went out New Years was the millenium. Was on a high after Peyts got his hat trick with Jimmy Mac predicting the promotion to the Championship that season. Staying home with a bottle of wine and a Disaronno or two to follow ! In my pj's , perfect !☺

Currently waiting for Craig David on telly (whoever he/she/them is), then watching the fireworks from London.
Tomorrow down the Bridge then Turf to watch the Clarets beat Villa 🤞
Happy New Year all. UTC

Already New Year here in Belgium.
Did most of my drinking at this afternoon''s pub crawl in the village. Lovely Belgian beer.
Done, dined and dusted and will be tucked up within the next 30.

Quiet one this year for us,we've done the going out a couple of times in the past, and it's usually baltic and you're waiting hours to get a taxi home, might be an age thing but NYE is yet another tradition that's been overcommercialised.

Anyway happy new year to all however your marking the event, and here's to 3 points tomorrow.

Also a 7.30 KO here in deepest Philly - think It will be strong coffee and peanut buttered toast to fuel my yelling at the TV screen. Confident we will get back to winning ways....
meanwhile it's only 7pm here, me and Mrs C never been fans of going out on New Year's Eve so we have got the wine flowing now, food in preparation, music playing (Jon Cleary CD just finished, now Tom Petty in play).

Wherever you are, enjoy in your own way and Happy New Year to Clarets everywhere.

I’m in bed, just had a shower and trying to get some sleep but the fireworks have started and will be going off for hours no doubt as people are idiots. I would usually be out and drunk now but this early kick off has meant a very quite start to the 20s for me, which is probably a good thing.

2019 hasn't been anything to write home about so couldn't give a toss about celebrating it. I watched some tele and that's about it. Hangover free start to hopefully a better year.
