Jack Grealish
Jack Grealish
Many on here have said previously he’s overrated and not very good, he’s absolutely running the show.
Re: Jack Grealish
Absolutely quality player. Fair play to him for sticking with Villa but surely will be off at the end of the season, should be in a top side.

I've always thought he's a quality player, can be a bit of a prick at times and throw himself on the floor for no reason - but aside from his obvious ability, he shows week in week out his desire and effort. I'd love us to have a player in our side with just half his attitude today.

Re: Jack Grealish
No tackling by our midfield allowed him to run through
Bardsley allowed him room and actually turned his back on the shot
He has a ferocious shot and again we've failed to do our homework on the opposition

I like to admire opposition players sometimes, I did the exact same thing about Van Dijk when we played Southampton I said he was the best defender I’d seen live that day.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 1:24 pmYou couldn't hook any with your comment in the match thread so you made your own post?

Laying on the floor after that "foul", can manage to bring his head up to make sure the ref gives a yellow to Tark though.

Re: Jack Grealish
He’s quality but they knew exactly what to do today - leave our right side free as no real threat, giving Grealish licence to tuck in for the left side to run the game.

I'd have him in the England squad every time.
Reminiscent of a young Chris Waddle.

Re: Jack Grealish
I was surprised with his work rate and willingness to get stuck in, not just the flashy neat attacking player, his languid style is deceiving, you would assume he’s lazy but he put in a real scrap today.

Shout outs also to Wesley who looks a real prospect at only 23 and Mings who showed why he's a clear starter for the national team at the back

Two massive tantrums thrown with foot stamping and arm waving, should have been sent off.

We couldn't get near him , it was like watching a father playing football with a toddler.

He’s the catalyst and is allowed to play that way in his free role. The one player we have who is anywhere near like him gets stuck on the wing and doesn’t get involved as much.

Re: Jack Grealish
Must admit a couple of seasons ago I wasn’t convinced. He’s certainly made the step up though and was head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch today. He’s given a very free role though which is a luxury that not many teams can afford and I do wonder if this has contributed to Villa’s position in the table. Expecting him to be snapped up at the end of the season and I imagine he’ll be a success in a better team.

Re: Jack Grealish
Best footballer on the pitch, with a fair gap back to second.
Re: Jack Grealish
I thought he was given the freedom of Turf Moor today (like Willian before him). He was on his own up front sometimes from Villa clearances and got most of them begging the wuestion why dont we tightly mark the opposition playmaker

He's exactly what we're missing, box to box, can run defences ragged, always available to receive the ball. England beckons.

Re: Jack Grealish
Earlier this week a fellow UTC user quoted my post when I said that IMO Grealish was a very good player, his reply was that he felt that spent half the time on his backside, I felt that he just was skilled at ' drawing the foul'. Look, most fans know that he is quality, but I am concerned that Dyche and his staff perhaps thought that Grealish didn't have enough quality to hurt sides,
I felt sure that Hendrick would start, or JBG but to start Brady was iMO unbelievable. No fight, the intensity is 'shot' and the will to succeed seems to have gone.

Re: Jack Grealish
Ran the game and there is no doubt of his quality.
Just find the falling over issues he has as his only flaw. The physios don’t even get up when he is rolling around.

He just needs a good head band.
That'd sort his falling over stuff.

Impressed me.
Not just a talented and skilful playmaker, but also hard working and box to box. Will go far in the game.

Got tackled, rolling around in agony, only stopping to look up and see if anyone was being booked. Good player but a cheat
Re: Jack Grealish
I suppose you could make a case for him playing out wide in Dyche's 442, to give my honest answer, but I wouldn't be confident as I would struggle to see how he fits into that rigid 442.

Re: Jack Grealish
If we had a player of Grealish’s quality then Dyche would do what he needed to do to accommodate him. You know this as much as me. I think the frustration is that we don’t have anyone of his quality. The closest we do have is McNeill who Dyche always selects, so you’re making cheap digs.
Re: Jack Grealish
There's a strong argument to suggest McNeil would now be better being moved inside, as teams have found a way of stopping a lot of McNeil's threat down the left. But Dyche won't do it because it would involve changing his system, as McNeil isn't strong enough to hold his own in a central pair.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 6:06 pmIf we had a player of Grealish’s quality then Dyche would do what he needed to do to accommodate him. It's this sort of rigidity that casts doubt for me on whether players like Grealish could ever fit into his sides. His framework comes before any individual, for better or for worse.
Re: Jack Grealish
Yea so did I, it's just the typical way KR uses things to make his points more believable!Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 2:43 pmTo be fair I walked off that game and everyone was saying the same thing

Dyche would fit him in of course. But in the Hendrick, Arfield and now McNeil out of position on the right role.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 6:06 pmIf we had a player of Grealish’s quality then Dyche would do what he needed to do to accommodate him.
