Ingsy Again
Danny has just popped in another one vs Tottenham. Nine in the last 10 games. Not good news for us.
I wonder if any of the big boys might come in for Danny Boy in the forthcoming window?

Re: Ingsy Again
He’s turning their season around. Must be in with a good shout of an England call up in replacement of Callum Wilson

He was injured for like 2 years.

Quite difficult to play well when your leg is in a brace for 2 years.Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 3:53 pmHe played for the big boys at Anfield and did very little

Fair play to both ings and saints. Thought he was too big a risk and past his best. But been incredible.

Made a promising start at Liverpool before he got injured. Fair play to him, hope he can stay fit.
Re: Ingsy Again
Nahki Wells at the double for QPR too.
I like Ings, he's up there with the best we have had IMO.
Exactly the type of player we need, pacey, tricky and creative

Great finish
Re: Ingsy Again
Merson saying Tottenham should sign him as he is the right fit for them, especially with Kane being injured.

Re: Ingsy Again
Chris Wood is the best striker of headed goals in Europe
For the older fans he reminds me of Andy Lochead
Like Chris not always appreciated by fans but excellent in the air
Chris does the dirty stuff well and could have scored again given more composure
Danny is doing well but I'd take Chris everytime
Not pretty but effective and thats what we will need in our relegation fight

Re: Ingsy Again
Correct, but 10 points from 12, including Beating Chelsea away and Spurs at home without conceding and a thrashing of Villa 3-1 away , makes them certainly in form, and I'd rather be in their shoes than ours.deanothedino wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 9:56 amOr maybe we would be? Saints are hardly out of the fight with a whole 1 more point.
The signs are there, they can play football and get results even against the so called big clubs.
Dont forget they got beat 9-0 at home months back. What a turnaround
Re: Ingsy Again
We've been lucky to have some good strikers play for Burnley over the recent past, but Danny Ings heads the pack as technically the best footballer, if not quite the best finisher.

Ings has done well to put being involved in that horror show behind him
I'd like to have their form too, but having Ings wouldn't necessarily mean we would. He was playing when they were **** too.

Re: Ingsy Again
Have to admit. As much as I wouldn't have resigned him (and currently being proved wrong) watching him and Vokes (being supplied by Trippier) was a joy.
Re: Ingsy Again
Had he stayed fit, it’d be Mane, Ings and Salah leading Liverpools front line.

Know it was not ideal when he left us, and blotted his copy book. However delighted for him-he has a great footballing brain and is in the right place at the right time. A great poacher

Re: Ingsy Again
Thats the best football we have played under Dyche. Great to watch. High energy pressing. Also good when we had a fully fit Defour pulling the strings for six months. Much better than the shite being served up at the minutecricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:52 amHave to admit. I'd be interested to hear Dyches' thoughts on that. If I'm honest I think Ings is a far better playerWoodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 9:44 amChris Wood is the best striker of headed goals in Europe

Re: Ingsy Again
I think it was Howe that first said to the board that Ings is/was a far better prospect than Rodriguez. Turned out to be the case.
Re: Ingsy Again
Completely agree with that - one of my favourite seasons ever in 40 plus years of watching.cricketfieldclarets wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 11:52 amHave to admit. As much as I wouldn't have resigned him (and currently being proved wrong) watching him and Vokes (being supplied by Trippier) was a joy.
QPR had a very decent team that year and when we beat them 2-0 on the Turf in a top of the table clash I was sat in the bob lord stand right behind the away dug out on a hospitality do so I had a very different view of the game from my normal Lower JM seat. We played absolutely brilliantly - the quality of our football was as high as I have ever seen it. Vokes and Ings combined in a passing move that started on the half way line to score a brilliant goal.
Tripps was fantastic - seeing him close up you could see the quality oozing out of him. Plus he took a really bad knock on the thigh that day and looked like he was going to come off but he played through it.
Danny Ings is IMHO a far far better footballer than Chris Wood. But for injury he would be a regular England player and playing for a bigger team. You cannot judge him on his Liverpool career - not just because of his horrendous injuries but also the players he had in front of him. One of the best players to ever play in a burnley shirt and I don’t really care how he left - I’ve met him a couple of times and seen what he did for local charities close hand and also seen him spend a full afternoon at a friend who sadly passed away memorial football game up Belvedere. He was brilliant with everyone and there were no other burnley players up there - very modest and lots of time for everyone and very generous giving boots, shirts etc for auction.

True. Equally with my nephew both him and trippier were brilliant. Was annoyed at how he left but then who could blame himTVC15 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 2:19 pmCompletely agree with that - one of my favourite seasons ever in 40 plus years of watching.

Re: Ingsy Again
What we need in a relegation fight... As opposed to Ings who looks like he is saving Southampton from relegation...?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 9:44 amChris Wood is the best striker of headed goals in Europe

Re: Ingsy Again
Out of interest did you just see that Wood has scored the most headers in the Prem so far and decided that makes him the best aerial striker in Europe!?Woodleyclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 9:44 amChris Wood is the best striker of headed goals in Europe

He's also missed the most clear cut chances, does that make him the worst striker in Europe?
Re: Ingsy Again
He’d score more than Firminho. He’d also fit perfectly for their pressing, harassing game.
Pointless keeping him when he got fit as he’s too similar to Firminho. Origi offers something different when things need changing. A problem we have is too many similar players as stated in the other thread I’ve quoted you in.

Re: Ingsy Again
Chris Wood could only dream of ever having Ings natural talent , control skill and balance . Wood may be excellent in the air but his control is awful he quite simply cannot beat a man and he’s nearly as slow as Vokes .His 1st touch reminds me of Andy Cole’s but without his speed .

Eh? You mean the Andy Cole who scored nearly 300 goals throughout his career?AlargeClaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 4:57 pm.His 1st touch reminds me of Andy Cole’s but without his speed .

Re: Ingsy Again
Cole was very quick ,very agile , great positional sense and a cracking eye for goal . His 1st touch however was an odd flat flooted type touch which just reminds me of Wood’s ( that being the only comparison )

The stat I quoted is from the same source. I have no issue with the validity of the facts, it's more about you stating that Wood is the best striker of headed goals in Europe, which he is clearly not. He's scored the most (whilst missing the most chances) that's all. The stats are completely warped because we play how we do, but I assure you if you put Ronaldo in our starting 11 he would score as many headers as Wood, to suggest he's the best aerial striker in Europe is pretty laughable.
The stats also suggest we have the second best goalkeeper and the second best back four in Europe (because we've got the second most clean sheets in the prem), what with Wood I guess it'll be Champs league next year then!

Firminho is far superior to Ings. Not even in the same league.Dyched wrote: ↑Thu Jan 02, 2020 4:01 pmHe’d score more than Firminho. He’d also fit perfectly for their pressing, harassing game.

Granted Ings is having a great season.
