Who would you want
Who would you want
If SD left or got fired who would you realistically want to take over.
I'd like Steven Gerrard, he ticks all the boxes for me for what I'd want in the next manager.
And if we aren't an ideal club for his next step, or cant poach the Rangers manager, we are in bigger trouble than we think.

Would it matter if a new manager were given the same tools and budget to work with

Why would he come here?
He's all about winning trophies.
Due to the dominance of the auld firm teams, he will always stand a better chance up there. If he does win them with Rangers, then he'll eventually end up back at Anfield.

Yep. Damien Duff for me too.
Re: Who would you want
Slaviska Jokanovic, had Fulham flying then got a bunch of new expensive players dumped on him after promotion and sacked quickly.
Bielsa if Leeds **** it up
Jorge Sampaoli, would be my first choice. Yes I know he was Argentina’s manager at the World Cup but felt like a lot of politics in that side from day 1. Won the Copa Sudamericana with Universidad De Chile which is when I first heard of him. Then managed the Chile national team and won I believe their first ever Copa America trophy. He walked out on Sevilla to take the Argentina job which was obviously a mistake.
Quiquie Setien did brilliantly with Las Palmas in La Liga, Great job at Real Betis, turned them into one of the best sides in La Liga to watch. Barcelona were rumoured to want him a while back, currently out of work.

And this is the £100m if we potted Dyche, who's available that we could attract,we'fd likely be looking at Championship managers with potential,Paul Cook,Alex Neil,Lee Bowyer,or lower down the pyramid you have Grezza,Duff, and John McGreal,i can't see us going down the overseas manager route that's for sure.

I wouldn’t be inspired from a novice appointment from League One like Barton just because he once played for us, same with Duff. I know Cook once played for us and he’s had an ok managerial career so far but Wigan appear to be in a rut and I heard he was close to the sack.

Our location would be a big pull, he would be all but home
We could blow Rangers out of the water in terms of wages
He probably needs to eventually cut it in the premier league in some capacity to be in the hunt of a top job in this league.

Re: Who would you want
SD has had some serious tools in which to do his job.
His style is his style, he signs specific players to carry out the football he wants to play.
He's spanked millions of pounds in fees, and the wages going down the drain are eye watering.
Also you dont need to spend millions to coach a side to pass a ball 15 yards.
The team are following instructions.
Long balls, channel balls, deep crosses and set peices.
People use the Allardyce fooball label as a stick to beat Mr Dyche with, however I dont think he's that good

Re: Who would you want
Plenty of managers would jump at the chance of managing us.
Plus there are plenty of managers who just need a chance. You only have to look at Wilder....who would have been happy if we had appointed him a couple of years ago.
Not our job to choose a manager...its the boards, about time they did somwthing other than look at our bank balance

Sadly whilst the bank balance is booming and 17th is still possible, it's a match made in heaven for Garlick and Dyche.Cleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 5:29 pmPlenty of managers would jump at the chance of managing us.

Shush dont say that loud. 17th in the best league in the world and you are still not happy? Amazing training facilities, youngsters coming through that never get a look in (bar Mcneil), 10 million pound plus players on the bench knowing they will never play even if the players starting have injuries, strikers out on loan scoring hat tricks whilst ours cant hit the target, what do you want?
As Bentley said you have an option (tongue in cheek obvs)

Re: Who would you want
Dyche won't be going anywhere.
If his players take a bit of responsibility, stop making unforced elementary errors and up the tempo, we'll survive with ease. He will, of course, be certain of the strengths and weaknesses of his players and be planning ahead. If he chooses to risk playing the current lightweight midfield way with games being lost before half-time, there could be trouble ahead but I still trust him.
We can get five wins from 19 games and if we can't, we're not good enough to be in this division.

Re: Who would you want
I think you are trying to impress us with a few 'flashy' names you've read up on than offer realistic alternatives to the current incumbent. Absolutely no chance of any of them or any others like them you may conjure up rocking up at at Turf Moor. We're boxed in a corner with too many players either not up to the required standard or simply not in with a chance to impress. Can't realistically see a way out of this predicament but if there is to be one it won't be reliant on ' the beautiful game'. Stubbornness and intransigence have served the manager and club well over the years here but they have now manifested themselves in the guise of fragility and an out of touch reality that doesn't bode well for certainly the near future.KRBFC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 4:51 pmSlaviska Jokanovic, had Fulham flying then got a bunch of new expensive players dumped on him after promotion and sacked quickly.

Our problem is we have a team of overpaid, overachieving players that any new manager would struggle to change a style to suit

We wouldn’t go for Gerrard. It would cost too much
He’s just signed an extension to his contract keeping him there until 2024 - which is incidentally when Klopps contract runs out at Liverpool

Re: Who would you want
I dont buy the giving youth ( McNeil ) a chance, we had tried, Taylor, Hendrick and Barnes wide left before he was given a chance to shine. He was a last resort, thankfully he took his chance and has been a successCleveleys_claret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 5:39 pmShush dont say that loud. 17th in the best league in the world and you are still not happy? He was nearly playing for Cheltenham but for a pile of injuries and a bit of good fortune when he stepped up.
I think it's quite clear on the current policy regards youth players at our club.

If we Sacked Sean Dyche and then we looked around for the manager with the best credentials to either keep Burnley in the Premier League or get us back up from the championship if relegated then we would have to appoint Sean Dyche

Judging by the list of names mentioned it possible to conclude that it is going to be difficult to replace Dyche and what a bad thread to start. Not sure why you would want to start such a thread.

Re: Who would you want
Personally think Big Sam would jump at the chance. Who else would attract him other than us who he hasn't already managed?
That said i still think Dyche is right. IF he can start to be a bit more open with style and signings and more forward thinking with signings. We cant keep adding 1 and 2 bodies every now and again that are both no better or no younger than what we have.
It sounds like additions in january are unlikely. And with the likely loss of Vydra, Hart, Gibson and Drinkwater we will be even weaker. And older!
