Those large double pitches are great for practicing hoof ball

If the primary objective of the trg ground was to help us pass it backwards, before knocking about between the back 4, before aimlessly hoofing it upfield. Then yes, it has been a marvellous success.
What a sad state of affairs having to read garbage like this on this message board.

The training ground is a legacy left from this period of success that will serve our club for decades. Players, managers (and styles of football, as some are particularly focusing on) come and go, but that won’t.

It’s the same reason I’m very passionate about the club redeveloping Turf Moor. Our seasons in the sun won’t last forever but things like Barnfield will, comparatively.

Yep - our football is a sad state of affairs at the moment.

I was over the moon when we got state of the art facilities and really thought it would bring on our players leaps and bounds.
That it would help massively with player recruitment?

I'm struggling to see any benefits at the moment.
Maybe the coaching staff need upgrading massively too?

Was it a case of just bringing us up to level par rather than massive advantage?

Maybe best just to name all the benefits you can see.

We have already had a few say it's helped attract a couple of youth players.

I can't see any saying it's helped the first team?

Stops them having to change at Turf Moor.

Less muddy.

Nice lunches.

Strange question but do we have a sand pitch?

I saw recently (can’t recall where) that they have numerous benefits for training, injury recovery, strength and conditioning.

It’s long been stated as a reason for foreign players being both stronger and more skilful, that they grow up playing football on beaches.

All that said, I’d have expected Blackpool to be top drawer by now!!

It must feel like a 6 star hotel down there now. We use to have scout meetings there several years ago and I recall being in the changing rooms with the first team after a training session, I don't think one of the players used the showers, the toilets could only be described as disgusting. What a marvellous advert Gawthorpe (Barnfield) is now.

You can't even start to compare how it is with how it was. I don't know much about other club's training grounds. The best I'd seen previously was Rangers when our youths played a friendly up there back in 2008. I've been down to Gawthorpe so many times over the years, seen the state of the facilities and the pitches. Until we got that top pitch in 2005 on the back of the televised cup games against Liverpool and Blackburn, we didn't really have one decent training pitch.

It's cost a lot of money relatively, but every single penny is a penny well spent (even the toilets beddie :D) and is helping our club to progress at every level.

And some might not have seen any benefits at first team level but it is a big selling point when we are trying to sign players so we might have players now at the club who wouldn't otherwise have signed. I know we missed out on players in the Cotterill era simply because of the state of the place and Stan wouldn't even take them down until they'd signed.

The pictures I've seen look fantastic. Perhaps if a certain Mr Howe had decided (at a stroke) that our services were no longer required we might have had the opportunity to look round.(under SDs tenure) I have to say that SD must take enourmous credit for such marvellous facility's. What a great place to go to work.
