Besart Berisha

Named as A League player of the decade, had to do a wiki search to confirm it was the same player!

Thread on here mentioning him a bit back.
Done really well over in Oz.
All time leading scorer in A League.

Good on him.

He played for Brisbane Roar for a few years and they were great in that time, played competitive football at the time. Significant drop in form for the Roar coincided with his departure to play in Melbourne.

I did enjoy the Besart Berisha facts thread back in the old place.

Certain members of the message board getting upset, as they completely missed the point, made it that little bit sweeter.

My favourite - Besart Berisha can slam a revolving door.

The league standard is really poor. It's an incestuous little competition with no promotion/relegation. There appears to be no club identity/loyalty with players moving from club to club regularly. Last season in a league of ten clubs (eleven this year) at least one player had played for seven teams. Derby rivalries are manufactured and hyped up (most clubs are hundreds of kilometres apart) they even have what they term a 'distance derby' between Perth and Wellington - 5,255 Km apart !
There's no doubt that Besart has been good at this level - passionate, controversial and entertaining, with more than a little skill.

I went to watch Western Sydney Wanderers in their brand new stadium. It was like watching plastic League One standard football.

You know it’s poor even that lad who played for Rochdale is highly regarded - his name escapes me - it’s one of those long double-barrelled names.

EDIT - Adam Le Fondre

For balance, in his one season in the PL he scored the same number of goals as Barnes did last season (the most one of our strikers has scored in the PL)
