That usually start some managed fires purposely in the spring time to stop this kind of thing happening. The lovely lefties with their banners and tie dye pants demonstrated about killing trees and the animals that would die too during these managed fires so they didn't go ahead this year.

Global warming though.

There's a grain of truth in that. Especially about global warming - we never had bushfires until Al Gore told us we're doomed.

Or what:
Australia has been spontaneously combusting for thousands, perhaps millions of years, it's part of the country's ecological cycle, as it is in many other places in the world, including California. it is no problem at all until you start to build permanent houses in the bush, which is no doubt one of the main reasons why the Australian Aboriginal people never went in for permanent settlements.

The whole world is heading that way. All these fires raging but they still managed tp spend over £3m on a New Years day fireworkd display in Sydney. Apart from the obvious fact that the money could have been better used to help the families made homeless, IMO it was in very poor taste letting it go ahead.

I don't know if global warming is responsble for the fires or just a case of The Perfect Storm and the fires getting out of hand but whatever the reason, it's a tragedy that shows no sign of easing up. Billions of animals have lost their lives in these fires and it will take a long time for their habitat to come back but unfortunately nature can be cruel and sometimes all you can do is watch on.

global warming is a fact, BBC reporting today how temps have increased by record amounts in last decade year on year, more than any time in previous century.

australia is a different matter, they too obviously have warming trends, but their summers are incredibly hot as a norm. add to that the mismanagement of dealing with the forests and shrubs in recent times, and disaster was inevitable.
