I wouldn't have given us a prayer after the first day but some fantastic performances to pull this one round - well done England, fully deserved victory.

A terrific real test match. Both teams giving it everything today, England trying to get the wickets & Safas trying to hang in. Great watch.

It was sensational. You know that at five or six down, it only needs a couple of snorters or mistakes and the game changes massively. You have to say with so many runs on the board, the odds are on the bowling side but credit to SA, though, they didn't half make England graft.

It's a shame Jimmy's injuries seem to be mounting up because he is still a world class bowler at the top level of the game when fit. Legend.

16 to go to reach 600 Test wickets.
Let's hope to God he lasts long enough.

Great test match - really even and brilliant finish.
Ben Stokes has got to be up there in the world in terms of coming up with the goods when it matters.

Still think we are struggling to find the right test team though. South Africa have got a really poor record in the last dozen test matches - and so have England really.

Noticed Australia are absolutely thrashing New Zealand in their test matches - they seem on the up again but it’s good that no one test team is dominant and feels like the top half a dozen nations could all beat each other at the moment.

Great morale boost for English cricket, but there's still huge :?: marks around this team,in the short term who is going to be fit to play at Port Elizabeth.

Amazed that this is England's 1st win at Newlands since 1957,i know there was a break during the apartheid regime, but even so to go over 60 years is :x

Both these teams are in transition and experimenting with their test squads, but yes your right both are a long way from challenging Australia and India, who i'd class as the 2 best sides in the 5 day game just now.

The fact that both are so evenly matched makes for a great series though, you'd be hard pressed to pick a winner,in fact given the fragility in both batting line-up's,unless the weather intervenes it wouldn't surprise me if it finished 2-2.

You have to be a very good team at the top of your game to win in India or Australia at any time.
