Why did he buy something not for purpose then as you put it? What did dyche see what was good enough but now doesnt irrespective of the lack of games?
I feel like I’m banging my head against a wall. I think that Dyche thought Vydra would be able to make the step up to Premier League standard. Maybe he thought that some of his shortcomings could be improved by coaching. He now thinks that Vydra is not at the level required and certainly not at the level of the other three forward options. Ergo, he doesn’t play.
I’m all ears for other reasons why he doesn’t play but all you’ve suggested is that it’s because Dyche is stubborn which is quite frankly ridiculous.

Sorry mate you're probably a lovely guy but that makes no sense given the fact he's not had a proper chance in the league

As said above, Dyche sees him day in day out and doesn’t like either his ability or his attitude. Dyche has absolutely nothing to gain by not playing a player who is better than his alternatives out of stubbornness. And what is the purpose for him being stubborn in the first place? It doesn’t make sense.

Never said he has something to gain out of being stubborn he just needs to wake up and realise that there other players besides his favourites that can do a job in this league

Could I make this suggestion?
SD made a lot about "evolving" our football, perhaps he saw a signing like Vydra as a player who could be part of this evolution.
Unfortunately we've all seen the failure of this evolution, and we've seen the return of hoofball, not Vydra's forte.
Just a thought, like

either way, judging by the reaction he got it would seem that most of the regular attendees would like to see more of him

Seans comments when we bought Matej
'...Vydra will add an extra dimension to his squad...'
'...He’s different from the strikers we’ve got...'
'...We look forward to seeing what he can add...'
'...He’s a bit behind the curve fitness-wise, so he’s got to catch up with that, and games-wise as well.
But we’ll look forward to him enjoying playing at Burnley Football Club...'

Obviously he hasn't caught up on fitness yet.

I didn’t say that Dyche wasn’t stubborn. I said that why would he refuse to play a player out of stubbornness? What does he stand to gain from this stubbornness?
I’d understand the arguments more if Vydra had shown anything since signing that suggests he should be in the team. I know he’s had limited opportunities but he’s not shown anything to suggest he’s a better option than our other three forwards.

I know, that’s why we should sell him in this window. He’s not good enough and we haven’t got time to babysit him whilst he finds his confidence composure and balance.

Well in that case, perhaps it's a good idea by the board that we don't spend any money in this window.
Looking at the amount spent on Gibson and Vydra, it's a big risk to take on players you think 'could maybe be good enough, and if not well they can just sit around' I know we are a recent regular Premier League club, but that's still big amounts.
For that price, I would at least expect them to at least have a run out in the team. If they are ultimately not good enough.. then fair enough, mistake made, remove them from the starting squad. But maybe like as been mentioned, maybe it wasn't a Dyche signing and was signed higher above because Jay Rod would cost too much.

I still suspect that there's nothing wrong with his fitness, nothing wrong with his attitude and nothing wrong with his ability. What IS wrong is that he simply can't play in our team the way we play. As others have alluded to, he was bought when SD wanted to move our style forward and was possibly looking to play a more passing game on the deck, but it was a short lived idea and he soon came round to the "if it ain't broke....." idea and realised that our best chance of remaining in the PL was to keep doing what we're doing, as it's paid off so far. Hence we have poor Vydra, a good player who really doesn't fit in.

Or maybe he’s just not good enough for this league ?
And we are the latest of the 3 clubs he has played for in this league to find out.
And yes I know we paid around £10m for him but obviously we thought he could be good enough and for reasons none of us know it’s not worked out....but the only logical explanation is that he is not good enough in the opinion of the only person that matters.

This. He was on loan at Watford in the Championship twice appearing quite a lot and once they signed him after going up they effectively loaned him back out to Reading.
We are the third Premier League team to have him and not play him regularly.

So, let me get this straight... there's people on here annoyed with the manager for not playing a player who has just returned from paternity leave, presumably not having trained fully during that time, and all this when we won 4-2?
Righto then.

That's pretty much the definition of stubbornness though. Everything points to you gaining by taking another course of action, but you don't because you are bloody minded and.... stubborn

I was being sarcastic, but isn’t there a sign up at Gawthorpe saying gloves aren’t allowed?
I wasn't having a go at you. I used to think that some footballers were being mard until our kid started having circulations problems in his fingertips when playing in the depths winter.

Sean doesn't play Vydra because he doesn't suit is preferred style of play, ie Hoofball.
