Re: JBG - hamstring
If he's getting injured in that sort of game, he's in big trouble. Peterborough didn't lay a glove on us when we had possession, and never attempted a press or a tackle. Worrying.

Re: JBG - hamstring
Not sure how often hamstring injuries are caused by being pressed or tackled.

Wood came off with a tight hamstring too.

Re: JBG - hamstring
Neither Lennon and JBG seem to be back long before they pick up another injury so it's difficult to really count them as players. They'll make the odd appearance here and there, but feel that's about it.

Re: JBG - hamstring
Can't remember who it was who played a through ball to him, near the end of the first half.
Might have been Jay, but neither were on the same wavelength.
Think JBG wanted it playing short. It was played long, he didn't chase it but just turned back upfield and touched his hamstring then.

If you’re game is all about bursts of pace, then it’s probably the most common injury especially if it’s an injury you’ve done many times before

Re: JBG - hamstring
I don’t really get your point. You can pull/tear your hamstring as easily whether you’re playing a football game against Peterborough, Manchester City or The Red Lion.
Re: JBG - hamstring
Agreed. The pattern of recurrence is becoming problematic now though, for him and for usBurnley1989 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 6:22 pmIf you’re game is all about bursts of pace, then it’s probably the most common injury especially if it’s an injury you’ve done many times before
Re: JBG - hamstring
Yes you certainly can
My point is most of the games he plays in will need greater exertion than the game he played in today. If he's getting injured today, it doesn't bode well for him when he's having to sprint further and faster to evade presses/ tackles/ make recovery runs etc against better teams. It means there will be more opportunity for him to get injured in those sorts of games.

Re: JBG - hamstring
Gudmundsson’s time on the treatment table is certainly becoming cause for concern. But it seems that you’re overthinking it with regards to the relevance of today’s opposition.ksrclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 6:28 pmYes you certainly can

Re: JBG - hamstring
Poor sod, he was a glimmer of hope in the last two league games, sadly now though it is time to either move him on or just watch his contract run down.
Re: JBG - hamstring
Been a pleasure as always Riley, what would this board do without your circular motion.
Re: JBG - hamstring
The new Darren Anderton..
Re: JBG - hamstring
I pulled my hamstring buying a quiche in Aldi. Last one, mind.
Re: JBG - hamstring
So let’s look at worst case scenario. JBG hammy say 4 weeks. Wood same although unlikely. Barnes groin could be anything. Brady not fit for sure. Sell Vydra and Gibson who is unfit anyway. Pope inured v Villa. Unknown. Westwood still struggling after injury. What’s left
Hart
Bards Tarks Mee Taylor
Lennon hendrick cork McNeil
J Rod and ?
Mmm. We could buy but we are saving it for a rainy day. Well Mr Chairman it is ******* down really hard !!!!

One of the most injury prone players we've had at Turf Moor in a long time and I think 'injury prone' is being very kind.

Re: JBG - hamstring
And yet the experts on here got on there condescension horse when it was suggested by many of us in the summer that we needed another winger due to his total unreliability.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 7:22 pmOne of the most injury prone players we've had at Turf Moor in a long time and I think 'injury prone' is being very kind.
Good player, sometimes, but even when fit he’s hardly consistent. Third behind a centre mid and right back for replacing on a permanent basis.

Re: JBG - hamstring
That is a problem with our transfer policy. We try to sign players out of favour at other clubs with plenty of experience. They are out of favour for a reason.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sat Jan 04, 2020 6:18 pmNeither Lennon and JBG seem to be back long before they pick up another injury so it's difficult to really count them as players. Re: JBG - hamstring
With him likely to be out for a few weeks and Barnes carrying an injury we're pretty much down to the bare bones in midfield and upfront. If we don't seriously attempt to strengthen this month then we deserve all we get. Hopefully it may concentrate a few minds in the Board room.

Strangely enough, I did my hamstring playing against the Red Lion.
