The puzzle for fans is not buying a player ready for our 1st team

We have paid enough last few windows for "risk" players can they / can they not break into our 1st team (e.g. Vid, Gibson, Wells and to a extent Jay Rod etc,etc) and they have cost millions not peanuts so the frustration is we dont seem to find/buy players that can compete right away for a team place. Fans dont expect a Maddison or a Sancho signing but just a player that can automatically challenge for a shirt, fans are frustrated that we cant seem to find a player/s in any league in the world to say compete for Lowton for the right back shirt or any midfielder to push Cork and Westwood. Lowton, Cork and Westwood are "good" solid players but are they really that special we cant find any players say between 1m and 8m that cant push them for a shirt ? dunno

The transfer fee isnt the issue - I think its the wages. We are going to have to start agreeing to wages between £60k - £90k a week - Can we afford that?

Looking abroad comes with it's own risks, such as how long the player will take to acclimatise to the Premier League. Nothing seems to be straightforward when it comes to transfers with our restrictions.

All other clubs dont seem to have many issues - all players will take time to adapt but you plan for the future as well as this season.

We are ostensibly a club who buys in potential which is proven a a lower division. We then coach, add value and realise the asset.

The only reason to purchase 'oven ready' (yuk) is to fill a gap which needs filling immediately with no one in the wings.

I think we are like a 'stepping stone' type of cub too. Take Steven Defour for example - other clubs probably didn't want to take a risk on him. Both Manchester United and Everton were both interested in him before his injuries. So he probably saw Burnley has a way of getting into the shop window for bigger Premier League teams to have a look at him. Unfortunately for him, it didn't work out that way.

We can't compete in this League for ready made players, it is what is and what's being told,it will eventually hurt us the only way a club like ours with moderate backing is development and its all relatively new from the ashes that Howe destructed during his tenure in my view.
In all that time since the late 70s when we had one of the best academies in the land we have only brought through two of the highest quality players in Jay and McNeil.
All though we have developed others, and got others for a snip and brought them on to be fine players.
Clubs outside the top end of the market will struggle as these clubs have the monopoly and financial support. We have to get our feet back on the ground as supporters are now getting tired of watching a resolute dig in grind out stuff with the same old strategy of keeping the dream alive and are starting to vote with their feet like we are seeing with alarming attendance drop off.
We are at the cross roads now where we have been found out we need to get off the Zebra crossing and take a long hard look at the full picture that is looming and its not going to be pretty one either if we dont get our act together.
After only a 18 months after being in Europe this at the moment is a massive decline and its taking its toll in every way due to poor recruitment that our club refuse to go the extra yard in so why should the supporters UTC

If we cannot compete, and are so skint,why have such a large backroom team ie RECRUITMENT. I am sure there's some impressive salaries being drawn. The figure must be incredible if you divide the salary by the amount of players signed in the last three windows. A bit like the salary per game for Drinkwater since leaving Leicester. If you are a company and have nothing to sell do go out and recruit a sales force
