Chris Eagles
I’ve just done a cursory search on here and can’t find anything but Chris Eagles has been released by Oldham after 6 months.
A shame to see how his career has progressed, especially given the personal issues he has suffered.

Re: Chris Eagles
I heard his name mentioned this weekend, he came of the bench for somebody.
I can’t remember who it was though
EDIT - It was Oldham, and you’re right, he has had contract terminated this afternoon...

Re: Chris Eagles
It is a shame footy wise, how it's turned out for him.
He put in a couple of match winning games for us, though did seem to go missing at times.
Maybe His old boss will invite him for a curry and give him a slot over in India.
Not going too well for him at Chennaiyin.
They lost again 2-0 in the latest.

He had the chance to sleep with everyone’s wife and he threw it away

Re: Chris Eagles
I thought he’d left Oldham already and the OP had read some old news.

Only joined them in the summer. I didn't realise he was there until David Jones joined them.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 8:05 amI thought he’d left Oldham already and the OP had read some old news.

Re: Chris Eagles
I liked Eagles, although his reputation always outstripped his actual ability.
Shame the way things have worked out on and off the pitch.

Re: Chris Eagles
I always thought he was electrifying on his day although as mentioned he did have his quiet games, however definitely one of my favourite clarets to watch in recent times.

Re: Chris Eagles
Like any winger playing for us, if he didn't have off days he'd have been playing for United or similar.
He did seem to completely lose his way though very suddenly. Player of the year for Bolton one season, released the next and clearly not impressed much anywhere since as the most appearances he's racked up for one side is 20.

Re: Chris Eagles
When he was at Bury I’m sure they stuck him with the u18’s as he was so sh1t. Tipped for big things at Man Utd but he’s had a reasonable career I guess he’s just skint now

Yep, wasn't fit. Sounds like he doesn't work hard enough. Probably the fault of Coyle and all that Irn BruAlargeClaret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 10:25 amWhen he was at Bury I’m sure they stuck him with the u18’s as he was so sh1t. I remember him struggling with asthma when he was at Burnley - maybe he struggles to complete 90 mins these days?

Re: Chris Eagles
That’s an interesting angle and very feasible ( though no idea at all ) Oddly enough when naturally gifted players drop down the leagues they rarely shine late in career . Joe Cole ( now he was gifted ) and Alan Smith 2 recent examples . Though a player like Eagles was always gonna be a luxury for many teams . Having had a quick look at his wiki he played in prem till 29 so no slouch ,and seems to have been offered contracts at most clubs he’s rocked up at .claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 1:09 pmI remember him struggling with asthma when he was at Burnley - maybe he struggles to complete 90 mins these days?
