Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
Its getting embarrassing. We are bombarded with comments about them being a great addition to the Premier League
I am hoping they bomb again ideally at Wembley
They are an odious bunch of fans of a club that sails very close to breaching financial rules .
Its 16 yrs since Leeds were up.Personally I would sooner see Brentford up.

Sadly, they play a decent style of football as well as being the biggest club on the planet.

Listening to them all fawning over Leeds last night I was fully expecting one of them to say " The Premier League needs a club like Leeds instead of a club like Burnley"
It was quite unreal...

I thought there was a Sky Sports Leeds channel given the number of times they are on. I would say it is the majority of their games are screened live on Sky....
Edit: Just checked - 24 of their 46 Championship games were shown on Sky last season. This doesn't include any play off or Carabao cup games they screened.

In fairness they are very popular with fans who don't attend games and watch from their living room, just as they were last night on here it seems

Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
It’s about viewers. They are one of the top 10 clubs in terms of drawing a TV crowd, meaning “more bang for their buck” (I think that’s the saying?) for TV companies from their set outlay.
If they got to the Premier League they could put them on 20 times per season instead of Burnley, Bournemouth, Watford etc.

Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
I have no problem with the media "love in" or Leeds for that matter. I say good luck to them, get yourselves in the Premier League, spend the money and hopefully fail (IMO) and then spend another 10-15 years in the lower leagues. If they come up and stay up then they're entitled to be there. They'll have to get used to the top 6 "love in" instead though wont they...

Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
I’m sick of reading how wonderful they are. If they are so wonderful why do they regularly need 90+min goals to equalise or win?
Top sides have put the game to bed by then. Fair play to them for going until the end though.

Wow. Teams that most people watch on telly are shown most on telly shock.
We get paid the equivalent of 10 games whether we're shown or not.

Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
I really dislike Leeds, and as with Man United, when I wlatch them, its hoping they lose.
However theres no doubting they are playing some excellent football, and will almost certainly go up this time.
Looking at their team of academy players, loans and misfits they're doing something right.
Big city clubs like Leeds and Nottingham are welcomed to the premier league as they have nice stadiums, big attendees and are steeped in history and rivalries with the others.
Teams like Burnley, Bournemouth and Huddersfield would be swapped with a big city club instantly if it was possible
It genuinely feels like we shouldn't be there, and our club sometimes seems it doesnt want to be there either.

Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
If we're just talking about football, much as it won't go down well on here, I've enjoyed watching Leeds, Brighton and Rangers in the one game I've seen each of them play this season.
Not arsed if any of those go up, down, win or lose and can't understand so much stress about what some other club does. Particularly ones completely disinterested in us. Their teams play some attractive, attacking football at the moment and that's it.

I just don't understand all this hatred and bile towards Leeds. They would grace the PL with their football and their supporters are a credit to Yorkshire. Can't wait to see them play Brighton on telly. Highlight of the season for me.

They’ll get eaten alive in the prem playing their brand of football . People forget the huge gulf between champ and prem. Though I’d imagine they will attract enough investment to do a fulham/wolves /villa financial gamble . A vile club vile fans and I for one woujd love them to implode , they were actually charging young players for official trials after being scouted which says all you need to know really .
Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
Haven't seen them for many years but watched last night out of interest they just might be up finally. Have to say it was an entertaining game and they played well but was pleased in the end that they lost, I know why I was pleased as it is engrained in me but I think I need to change this attitude and be more accepting as they have had there punishment.

Showing your age. Reads like you weren’t around in the 60s/early70s when Revie(spit) had them kicking anything that breathed. Starting in the tunnel before kick off. Effing animals and the very first anti-football side.

The same media will be shitting on them at the first opportunity. That's the way the media operate.
We were the media darlings not so long ago, when they thoight it was a momentary blip. Now we've muddied the Prem for 4 seasons its time to slag off our outdated boring football.
The secret is you take no notice of the arse wipes.

Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
I think the thing that irks me most about Leeds is their sense of entitlement; this idea that they deserve to be in the Premier League because they're such a Big Club. How many more years would they have to be out of the top flight before they ceased to be a Big Club?

Oh yeah I remember Charlton and Bremner and the rest. And I remember a night match at the Turf going in the back of the Longdside and walking into thousands of the buggers (went through the wrong entrance at the back). Just about escaped with my life bud. About 30-odd thousand on that night I seem to recall.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 3:28 pmShowing your age. I detest Leeds and only Leeds Revie was a thug that encouraged axeman footy Hunter wasn't a footballer he was a henchman and if he did today what he did to us in the past he'd be arrested the sooner they and Beelzebub disappear the better.

No. Hunter nobbled Frank, over the touchline. Same match Fletch scored his overhead kick. 1-4 win, the weekend before FA Cup semi.

Hunters assault on top scorer Frank Casper cost us a possible cup final place and Frank his career and England call up

Re: Whats with this media love affair with Dirty Leeds?
It’s odd a lot of this. I’ve never read anything about Leeds being anything other than what they are, a big (ish) club with good support. Where do we get this ‘entitlement’ idea? I didn’t like Revie Leeds but for goodness sake that is 50 years ago. Most of em are dead (probably). It’s just fashionable to hate them. I have no great love for them particularly but I’d support them before United or Chelsea or Spurs or the cheating Gooners.

The Orient game was 31 years ago. It feels like last week the way some go on.

To be fair I watched them at Arsenal the other night. They are everything Burnley aren’t and I suspect they would be welcomed to the Premier League by the Sky/BT etc. I doubt Burnley’s brand of ‘football’ will be missed when we go down.

there's something in the water over there i think. I wish them nothing but abject failure in all competitions and hope they fold due to financial irregularities ASAP.
