Scott Sinclair
Scott Sinclair
Having talks with Preston
I know he is 30 but would you have him on a short term deal (2years) a decent player who is still very fit.

Re: Scott Sinclair
Seemed to have found his level at Celtic as somewhere between Championship and PL standard. Just reading his wiki, he was their player of the year in 2017, so he must have been doing something right.
That said, he's only made 7 appearances this season. Have the wheels really come off for him or something?

He’s all huff and puff. JBG and McNeill are far superior players.

I've no doubt that if we signed him the OP would be using it as another opportunity to have a go at Dyche and the Board.

It looks like he is available and as we dont have a pot to **** in was just a suggestion for another wide player and JBG injured again.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 9:35 amSo your answer to improve our 1st 11 is to sign someone who is almost 31 and can't get a game in the pub league ?
Do you really wonder why you aren't taken seriously ?
Who do you suggest ??????

Re: Scott Sinclair
Yep we get that but have you no idea how far behind the premier league the Scottish league is ?
Sinclair struggles to make the bench for Celtic and has done for a while now.
The level he might do a job at now for a season or so is Blackburn, Wigan or even Sunderland.
Re: Scott Sinclair
Not up to it.
Re: Scott Sinclair
We need to look for young hungry players that we can bring on. So it's a no from me on Sinclair.
Re: Scott Sinclair
Celtic Reserves or Knob Enders is his level. his wife used to be courted by the press especially after her visit to the Sun's page 3. But wasn't she a bit of a brat hence less publicity?

He'd end up like DD. In the papers and nightclubs more than in the side.

Re: Scott Sinclair
No better or even worse than we have got. We have to many players on our books playing wide midfield who aren't up to this league, bar McNeil of course
Re: Scott Sinclair
No I wouldn’t because he’s not nearly good enough. Next.

Played in the same boys team as Ashley Barnes. Surprised we haven't been linked as a cheap squad option for us actually!

he's only 30, not old enough yet, plus he hasn't played for Stoke

We were playing peterborough - Sinclair has played champions league football and europa leaguehoskinsgoalatswansea wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 2:02 amI thought Lennon played very well on Saturday.
Re: Scott Sinclair
Sorry I thought you were advocating we should sign him with you starting a thread about him, saying he was decent and then mentioning the fact he had played champions league football to justify him being better than Lennon.
My bad.

Re: Scott Sinclair
He probably would be a slight improvement on lennon in terms of more assists & chipping in with the odd goal, whether that's enough to justify signing the lad or whether he'd want to come that's another question, other positions are more desperate.
Re: Scott Sinclair
We need to improve the first 11 and not sign more ageing dross to never play so on that basis, no I wouldn’t go near him, I’m pretty sure he hasn’t been a Celtic regular for 2 Years.
Re: Scott Sinclair
All about opinions but I just don’t see what evidence there is that Sinclair could do that based on what he has done in the last couple of years in a league significantly lower in standard than the Premier League.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 1:26 pmHe probably would be a slight improvement on lennon in terms of more assists & chipping in with the odd goal, whether that's enough to justify signing the lad or whether he'd want to come that's another question, other positions are more desperate.

I think everybody would desire that, but realistically the way things are less attractive propositions need to be considered or simply not bother, it is what it is I guess.

We couldn't be certain 1 way or the other & either way the improvement would be slight, you are not swapping lennon with ronaldo/neymar ect.

Re: Scott Sinclair
A slight improvement? He must have improved rapidly since I last saw him if he's anywhere near as good as Lennon.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 1:26 pmHe probably would be a slight improvement on lennon in terms of more assists & chipping in with the odd goal, whether that's enough to justify signing the lad or whether he'd want to come that's another question, other positions are more desperate.

Re: Scott Sinclair
I'm not sure CT to be honest I was just judging him when he was at Palace on loan from Chelsea as I recall whilst on loan he had a blinding game against us think it was the last game of the season, obviously time as passed I don't watch much football north of the border, I was making allowances he had declined but to what extent I wasn't sure. Anyway as I understand that ships sailed & he's at Deepdale or on the cusp of joining them.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:01 pmA slight improvement? Re: Scott Sinclair
Officially confirmed by Preston not long ago. https://www.pnefc.net/news/2020/january ... om-celtic/
Be interesting to see if he can still do a job at Championship level, I imagine he would have lost a few yards of pace over the years.

Please tell us what Lennon has actually done apart from one good game last season ???ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 6:01 pmA slight improvement? He must have improved rapidly since I last saw him if he's anywhere near as good as Lennon.

Re: Scott Sinclair
I know, I felt that way should have included that in my reply, regarding any comparison with him & Scott Sinclair, I'm more than willing to have a sportsman bet with anyone irrespective of any factors who'll be the better player from now on in in terms of assists & goals ect going forwards.
Re: Scott Sinclair
For Premier League football I think it will be an honourable nil nil draw between them. But if there is going to be a narrow winner it will definitely be Lennon !Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 1:01 pmI know, I felt that way should have included that in my reply, regarding any comparison with him & Scott Sinclair, I'm more than willing to have a sportsman bet with anyone irrespective of any factors who'll be the better player from now on in in terms of assists & goals ect going forwards.

Re: Scott Sinclair
Irrespective of any FACTORS going forward, as a sportsman bet was the proposition to determine this.
Re: Scott Sinclair
If your definition of a “better” player is that someone who makes 2 assists against Ross County and Rotherham is a better player than someone with one assist against Arsenal or Chelsea then you might end up being correct.Jakubclaret wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 1:11 pmIrrespective of any FACTORS going forward, as a sportsman bet was the proposition to determine this.

Re: Scott Sinclair
I was joking, it wouldn't be fair with Scott Sinclair playing in a lower league & getting far more gametime. I don't think either would provide enough pace on the flank to be effective in today's PL not at their stage in the careers.
