Surely any Football League club can now call off a game if theyre struggling with injuries or suspension , which at this stage of the season a lot are

Macclesfield did call a game off, and got 6 points deducted. Presumably on the grounds that Bolton are a "big name" and Macclesfield aren't.

Good stuff, if your a small team and got a big cup game coming up or something.. just postpone your league game yourself and keep fresh.

EFL can't say much after they have let Bolton get away with doing this, letting the other team know just 24 hours before kick off too.

In other news released today the EFL have confirmed they paid Shaun Harvey £500k to just go

this sums it up fairly well

Macclesfield's points deduction was not for failing to fulfil a fixture

Bolton could yet survive - they are picking up points nicely and have now overtaken Southend (what is happening there - is there a worse team in the EFL - including league two?). You gotta admit it would be a remarkable story if they survived. I don't have a problem with Bolton, never have had apart from briefly when they poached Coyle (and with hindsight they probably did us a favout there). The Coyle incident is old history now and I think it's time to move on and hope a historical Lancashire club come good in the end.

They might as well,Bolton have taken liberties for months now,and can seemingly do as they please, what a farce the EFL has become.

How the hell Harvey has ever managed to reach and stay in the positions he’s held, is beyond me.

He rode on Richmonds coat tails and has fluked a well paid career by being successfully incompetent and a prize bell end to boot.

Hopefully the bloating toad never gets another job in football and this is the last we hear of the cretinous **** (somehow I doubt it).

Doncaster Rovers are the big losers here. The opportunity of An almost guaranteed 3pts taken away. Currently sitting 11th in the table, would be in the playoff places with those 3 extra points. They should now appeal.

Bad decision on this one. They should have got a further points deduction.

The actions of Bolton this season (and before too) have fundamentally undermined the integrity of the league.

It has emerged that the original hearing decision was upheld because amazingly the EFL Lawyer did not push for a points deduction according to Alan Nixon in the Sun , on Twitter .
Unbelievable

He’s been linked with the CEO role at the PFA. After his exploits at Bradford City & Leeds it was beyond belief that he got the league job.

I’d heard the FA but did he really think he could get the Premier League job? The man is a buffoon.
