Gibson wants to leave Burnley
According to the mirror and
https://readnorwich.com/2020/01/07/norw ... his-month/
I can understand he wants first team football, would be a big loss to us, especially if it is Norwich who come in for him.

He'd be a good signing for them and certainly help them in their bid to avoid the drop.
Re: Gibson wants to leave Burnley
Hardly surprising is it? The move has been a disaster for him.

He probably does want out and who could blame him but he’s not going Norwich in this window.

I don't blame him at all, I also don't blame Dyche as I don't believe Gibson would really improve us with the way we play, from what I've seen anyway.
I've no doubt he's a good player but when he has been given the odd chance he hasn't stood out

Remenber Vokes? A lot never liked him when he had cameo appearances. People need a run of games.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 1:06 pmI don't blame him at all, I also don't blame Dyche as I don't believe Gibson would really improve us with the way we play, from what I've seen anyway.

Re: Gibson wants to leave Burnley
Surely we wouldn't let him go to a relegation rival? I mean Norwich look the poorest team in the league when I have seen them and look the most likely to finish bottom so why would we help them out and potentially add in another risk spot.
Can't blame the lad for wanting to go though. Left his boyhood club to try and progress his career in the top flight and has ended up sat on his arse for almost two years.

That might be why Norwich are trying to poach him.

Agree with this unfortunately he’s currently got two better centre halves in front of him who are amazingly rarely injured or suspended.Burnley1989 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 1:06 pmI don't blame him at all, I also don't blame Dyche as I don't believe Gibson would really improve us with the way we play, from what I've seen anyway.

Re: Gibson wants to leave Burnley
So let's just have a look at this: a Norwich 'target' is reported to be unhappy at his current club by a Norwich rag. I think this comes under the heading of 'nothing to see here, move along'.
There does seem to be a lot of support for Gibson on this thread (despite it being potentially a dodgy story anyway) by those who before we got him were sh!tt!ng themselves in case Tarks or Mee got injured or banned. Gibson is a good player, we all acknowledge that, but as many on here are always saying it's a squad game now, why would anyone 'not blame him' for leaving? If he went there would be cries of 'why are we not signing a CB in the January window'?
Nothing story.

Re: Gibson wants to leave Burnley
If Gibson does leave, i think nearly everyone can understand the justification for the move. Probably the same situation exists with Vydra.
If we have two or possibly 3 players that are young, almost good enough for regular first team slots and wanting to play week in week out then surely other premier league teams have players in the same situation as ourselves but maybe in different positions, ie midfield.
If another team were to make a decent offer then presumably they would go. Therefore the same applies to Burnley.
There must be a situation where we can buy & sell without breaking the bank or indeed any transfer record.

Looking at rumours I think:
Gibson goes and we sign McKenna from Aberdeen loaning them Dunne

No, the "Norwich rag" had taken the information from the Mirror story. They didn't just make it up, but I suppose the Mirror might have?
Re: Gibson wants to leave Burnley
Would have loved to see him given a chance after the Everton home game last Boxing Day. Ben Mee could have had no complaints if he was dropped along with Hart.

His injury record is on par with Darren Anderton so it's hard to judge him when he isn't available most of the time.
Leeds United would be a good move for him this month.

Even though it wouldn't make sense selling to a rival if we got the chance to make our 15 million back I sense Garlicks eyes may light up.

going by Dyche's statements, we should be asking at least 25 million for him this window as that's what other clubs do

Gibson at his best is/was better than Mee at his best. Sadly we never got to see him at his best. Shame.

Another player we'll never know how good he could have been because he wasn't given a chance. I wouldn't blame him if he wanted out, only surprise is it's taken so long.

Absolutely no way is someone going to shell out over £10m for Gibson-had he played more games then maybe. Suspect £7.5m plus add-ons for appearances is the most we can hope for

As far as his character is involved, one of the reasons we signed him was that Pullis was glowing in praise for this guy, as the ultimate professional. Pullis and Dyche I suspect are very frank with each other-they appear to have had a good and long relationship, and respect for each other
