What an utter waste of time and money that signing was.

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
Is lucky to be getting another chance at a PL club but does he really want to be a professional footballer?
Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
It's a shame we wont be playing them again this season, would love to give him some abuse now

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
Apparently Villa are paying his full £110k a week wages.
Out of interest, if us and the player had agreed to extend his loan with us until the end of the season, would we have continued to pay a slice of his wages rather than the lot?

Will cost Villa between £1.5m-£2.0m in wages. If he does well and they survive the PL will be money well spent. Lets hope its not at our cost

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
Another great piece of business by Burnley FC. I'm beginning to think the reason we can't attract players is because they know that unless anyone dies they aren't going to get a game. Part of the reason for having a squad is to put pressure on those playing, to make sure they don't get comfortable, but Gibson and Vydra in particular must be wondering what the hell they have to do. Tarks and Mee are, generally, excellent but they have had their dodgy patches but they are a shoe-in on the team sheet. Wood to be fair is still bagging goals despite not actually shining but Barnes needs a rest and even when he doesn't play on comes JR who, despite his pair against a league one outfit has not exactly broke any doors down with regard to a claim.
I wonder what Sean Dyche does at home when his Mrs says 'we need to decorate the living room Sean'?
'I'm not sure we need to change it yet love, it's work in progress, when we decide to do it we'll do it in small steps, we have to get the balance right'.
'But Sean we haven't changed it for 10 years'.
'But it's working love, give it a while longer and we might give it a couple of tweeks'.

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
He may be fit, he may not be but one thing is certain, he is stealing a wage and was obviously not happy at Burnley.
I personally will trust the judgement of the staff at Burnley as to why he wasn't used but from my perspective his body language never suggested he was highly motivated or desperate to play.
Chelsea obviously think the same of him and have done for a long while.

He'll get the paste table out and set it up, mix the paste in the washing up bowl, stirring it with that stick in he'll never throw away, then decide not to bother and pack it all away again

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
I thought the lad looked a good bit of business when we got him on loan in the summer. Personally don't understand all this fitness malarky, the smokescreen (night club incident) accepted. The only way to get fully fit is to be given game time and that's something that for some reason DD wasn't given. Well never know how good he might have been for us but we may find out know to our cost.

A busted flush .£110,000 a week shows you why the likes of Chelsea are fxxxing it up for us poorer clubs.
Bad enough if he was any use but he's not nowadays

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
Drinwater quotes from BBC 1 hour ago:
"I'm massively excited to come to such a big club like Villa," he said.
"I want the club to stay in the Premier League 100%, that's why I have come here to help the team and personally to get game time.
"It's been a clear aim of mine this season to play.
"It obviously didn't happen in my last club but I am looking forward to the challenges and hopefully we can do well."

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
Been a complete waste of time and money but it would have been good just to see him in one game other than v Man City. (He clearly wasn’t fit for the cup game in which he was garbage). It wasn’t the best game to to get a clear picture to see how far off it he was.
DD IN AT VILLA
Announced on twitter, looks very happy in photo

If I was being paid £110,000 a week for essentially doing nothing I'd be grinning too.

Prick list candidate for 2020, clearly wasn't happy being at little Burnley. Hope he helps get Villa relegated.

Can't say I'd be ecstatic if I saw the form of my teammates and still couldn't get a game.Pimlico_Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 6:18 pmPrick list candidate for 2020, clearly wasn't happy being at little Burnley. Hope he helps get Villa relegated.

Perhaps Aston Villa might to let us have Henri Lansbury in loan until the end of the season. I shouldn’t think that he’ll get much game time now.

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
He is supposed to be a professional athelete and is paid accordingly 52 weeks a year. The onus should be on him to maintain a high level of fitness, playing should add sharpness to his game.
His mental state will contribute to his fitness, he arrived unfit and probably left only marginally better. Shades of Keith Treacey perhaps.

Maybe the lad just wants to play? Cork and Westwood are clearly undroppable so he probably realised he was wasting his time with us.

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
Dyche has done some rubbish business but this episode takes the biscuit.
Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
I can understand some on here criticising him for his off field antics whilst with us but more than that I don't understand how he gets so much flack when he was never really given any lengthy game time. I imagine villa will give him some game time, perhaps then we can judge whether he would have been an asset to us.

It may just be that his unprofessional behaviour whilst in our employ is the reason?

Re: ARTICLE: Drinkwater back in claret and blue
Unfortunately all news is bad news at the moment.
If he succeeds at Villa that will definitely go down like a lead balloon.
Some hard work & results needed to steady the ship and hopefully a decent signing to put a smile on the fans faces.

UTC posters thought it was a great signing in August
UTC posters wanted him out of the club after night club fracas in September
UTC posters complaining that he didn't play enough and has signed for Villa in January.
