Red Arrows Take America (Channel 5 9PM)
Sorry for the late posting but this should be worth a look,i've seen these guys at various events and they're always a crowd-puller.
A new television series takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team’s most ambitious overseas tour.
The four-part documentary follows the Red Arrows on a 22,000-mile journey across Canada and the United States – aimed at showcasing the best of British in North America.
Pictures and footage from the 11-week tour made headlines around the world earlier this year but this series explains how it was done and the challenges overcome.

They were flying over my house and estate this lunchtime as they do frequently from their Scampton base just a few miles away.

Imagine having a job that you absolutely love to bits and totally look forward to every day. Travel the world and be admired by millions. Very lucky people indeed. Jealous? Definitely.

Back in the early 90's our village cricket team were playing on a Sunday afternoon at Settle High Schools cricket field.
All play stopped when a Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire and Hurricane flew overhead.
About 10 minutes later the Red Arrows in diamond formation flew over stopping play again.
We found out later they were on their way to a display over Morecambe bay.

Yeah but unlike footy players for example, one mistake and you're splatted in a million pieces

In terms of tax payers money I would imagine keeping the Red Arrows flying is a tiny fraction of what tax payers money is spent on. I read a figure of around £10 million.
When you consider it costs us as taxpayers around £4 million a year to subsidise the self serving pigs (MP's) food and drink costs at the Houses of Parliament then I am more than happy to contribute to the Red Arrows.
These pilots are also highly trained front line fighter pilots, have served their country on the front line, and their flying skills at Air shows play a huge part in billions of pounds of UK aircraft sales. Their skills are admired by military pilots, and members of the public worldwide..
