If Wood misses out, then it's 5-5-0 with Vydra on the bench.

Especially with Jay looking sharp. It's a bit of a head scratcher as Dyche would say.

Any mention of why Brady wasn't in the matchday squad last week? Haven't seen anything.

Could be an interesting forward line up on Saturday then.

So assuming Bardsley and JRod don’t make it our team could look something like
Pope
Lowton Tarks Mee Taylor
Lennon Hendrick Cork Westwood McNeil
Wood

Interesting scenario - JR and Vydra both play and score 5 between them (JR 3 Vydra 2). We lose 6-5. Wood and Barnes back for the next game with Tarks ands Mee keeping their places. Ridiculous scenario but the outcome (not the score) wouldn't surprise me in the least.

It's a bit like a team working their backsides off to get us into Europe then come the Euro games most of them get dropped. Of course that would never happen would it - oh hang on. :D :D :D

Five minutes to go, 1-0 down, Dyche signals to the bench that it's time to make a change and bring on someone up front. Vydra rises. The bench is brought on.

Barnes out - JR ill. Vydra must be thinking 'Right, if I don't start on Saturday I'm off'.

He'd be a mug to let his inclusion in one game out of desperation dissuade him from leaving if he's already that way inclined.

This "Dyche fit" is just pure nonsense.

Barnes has been playing whilst injured & Gibson can't get picked because he hasn't played because he hasn't been picked ?

If Jay is out it will be Wood upfront on his own, 4-5-1, assuming we have 5 fit midfielders. Might be a very weak looking bench this weekend.

To help our goal difference I think Chelsea should give us a 3 goal start.

All true. I've asked lots of times on here just exactly what this mythical thing is called 'Dyche Fit' and no-one has actually been able to tell me. It's one of those things that all sounds very good and impressive until the question is asked 'what is it', and then it all starts to unravel a bit. Even online I can hear people going 'well...umm...it's...it's kinda...well you know...it's Dyche fit innit'.
'So what is it then?'
'Well it's when players come up to Dyche's fitness standards.'
'So what are those standards exactly?'
'You'll have to ask Dyche.'
'So you don't know then?'

Sorry, just can't help myself sometimes. ;) ;) ;)

If it is the case that JBG, Wood, Barnes out and Jay and Bardsley are ill what do you think we would actually play ?

Pope
Taylor Tarks Mee Lowton
Lennon Cork Hendrick Westy Mcneil
Rodriguez with a cold ?

Cant see him playing Vydra at all. Ever.

Some of the best decisions SD has made is when they were forced. We could be in for another.

At least these injuries force Dyche to think a little bit, instead of trotting out the same line up/formation every week no matter what. Who knows, we may even stumble across something that works.

If he could play like he did against Peterborough then I would start him aswell, but when I've seen him in the prem he's looked bad. Never tries to go past his man. And is always out of position.

So you wouldn't start Vydra? Why? Here is a gifted player who has not been given a sniff of a chance really and you think even in desperation we shouldn't play him?

We'd still lose the midfield battle.
When you see Southampton and Bournemouth go to Chelsea and get results, it's sad to look back on our form. The only reason they got results is they had the courage to go for it. We have to stop the shrinking violets routine, and go for it. We are a different beast when we do.
Injuries will only make it harder, not impossible.

Dyche has said that it is an over use injury that is now beginning to affect him and I think we all saw that in the last home game. He's going to get a second opinion from a specialist. It might be that he just needs a bit of a rest.

Think it's fairly straightforward, this.

If Jay is fit, he slots into a 442. Hendrick plays wide right, McNeil wide left.

If Jay is not fit, then McNeil or Hendrick slots in behind Wood, and Lennon comes in on the right - which is probably fair enough because he deserves a go after impressing on Saturday. Personally, I'd prefer to see McNeil in the role behind Wood, but we shall see.

The worry is Barnes' groin injury. With JBG also out, suddenly we not only look light in midfield, but in attacking areas too.

...a handy player but not one who has pulled up trees, and Chelsea away is not the ideal place to reintegrate a player who probably won't give us much of a target to hit when we're penned in defensively, and who won't supplement the midfield in the way McNeil or Hendrick would.

Good option to have available off the bench if we're chasing a goal.

Vydra is a “gifted player” ?
Well he’s not shown that for 3 different clubs in the premier league and whilst I accept he’s not had much of a chance at Burnley when he has played I’m not sure I have seen much of what this “gift” is.

That said it’s looking like we are short on numbers up front and he may get a chance soon and I hope for our sake he proves me and a few others wrong.

How about in the full games against Barnsley or Cardiff or West Ham ?
And I said he’s not had much of a chance - but I’m guessing there’s a reason for that - probably a similar reason to the other 2 clubs he was at in the premier league

It beggars belief that the Manager even considers starting an unfit Barnes when we have a fully fit Vydra and Rodriques available. "Over use injury"!!!

Come on now you know you are not allowed to say anything critical when Leisure Is about
Fans can be as critical as they want just as long as they don't make things up to try to make a point. Common then, tell me just how many of our 1st team were dropped? Houseboy stated that most of them were.

Whilst it's grim news that Barnsey is out I hope SD has decided to rest him until he's fit. We are going to need him in matches which we have more chance of getting something. just my opinion, mind.
