Re: 2019/20: Burnley v Norwich City – Cup Ticket Information
We can moan about the prices all we want, but I doubt it will change anything.
You could argue that the prices arent that bad (ignoring the stupid idea to charge non ST holders more), and I think that's fair.
But surely the aim should be to fill the ground. And if we dont (and we wont), then that will show the prices are too high. I'm not going to go. But £10 adults and £1 for kids, and I would have gone, and taken my niece and nephew, and the lad next door, spent some money on food and programmes, and the club would have made a nice bit of cash, and further invested in their future. I think it's a very short sighted decision on the clubs part

I work a lot of Saturdays but go on as much as I can.I was going to take my football daft 7 year old grand son on this game thinking £15 for me and £5 for him would be fair but on principle I will not bother and save my money for a better game

Agree £15 (for ST holders) isn't that bad but would have liked it cheaper for kids for all the reasons others have mentioned in this thread.
I'll probably still take my grandson (7) on for a tenner as it will be his first ever FA cup game but his parents and Mrs VC have decided to give it a miss at £20 each.

Probs be about 11-13k on inc maybe 1000-1500 from Norwich .Sat afternoon game not on telly helps though they should have made it a fiver for kids and OAP’s as let’s face it ,Norwich ( rather like ourselves) are probs the most unglamorous opposition possible .

I’d have gone if it was £14 adults and probably taken my 15 kids if it had been £6 each. Greed as usual from the club, they’ve missed out on 16 programmes, 14 pies, 2 hotdogs.

It's looking like we could have had 30,000 on if it had been £5 adults and £1 for kids!

Tell you what would be a fantastic way of getting kids involved - free season tickets for under-10s. Imagine that!MACCA wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 9:44 amThe aim should be trying to get the young kids hooked as early as possible.
By the time they reach high school they're watching teams on TV, their mates are influencing them etc etc.
Whilst young 0-10 they need to be a Burnley supporter, a free under 12 ticket with every adult would help get the school kids in.
Kids follow trends, and getting young kids talking about going on the football to their friends at school can only be s good thing.
I remember taking my yungest to his first game at 3 year old.
He wanted a drink, a hot dog, crisp, etc, and only lasted 45 minutes, but the club ( Accy I think it was ) ended up with about £30 out of me.
But then the week after he wanted to go on again when asked.
That game he spotted programmes , a scarf , hot dog and wanted them too.
Before you know it the kids hooked, telling everyone about the football and you're spending more than just the ticket cost, and a new fan is gained
Do what you can, get them in and see where it goes, dont discourage families before even seeing a game.
Oh, hang on...

Man City fans highlighting the same problem on their forum:ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 1:04 pmIt shows the insanity of football because some of the non league prices now are ridiculous.
On the subject of cup prices, I did post this week the prices Man U were charging Wolves fans for the replay. For non season ticket holders it’s between £45 & £55.
Some very good points though on this thread. I’ll gather the info and ensure it is discussed with the club at our next meeting.

Re: 2019/20: Burnley v Norwich City – Cup Ticket Information
Unless Norwich would not agree to the lower pricing I really do not understand why they have put prices up from the last round.
Surely we are at a very minimum covering our costs with the prize money and since anything we make from a cup run is profit we have not budgeted for why put the prices up ?
A bigger crowd and trying to keep the fans happy during a difficult period for us you would think is more important than the extra revenue which would be equivalent to around one week of Joe Harts wages for doing sweet FA (or Vydra, Gibson, Drinkwater etc)

Re: 2019/20: Burnley v Norwich City – Cup Ticket Information
Norwich had no say in the setting of ticket prices. After the qualifying rounds (where the away team have to agree prices) the home team alone set the prices.

Hull v Chelsea
Adults £12 (season card holders) / £18
Ages 2 - 22 £6 (season card holders) / £12
Bournemouth v Arsenal
Adults £20
16 - 21 £ 15
Under 16 £5
Northampton v Derby
Adults £22
Undfer 18s £10
Brentford v Leicester
Adults £20 standing £25 seats
Under 18s £5
Millwall v Sheff Utd
Adults £20 (season tickets) £25
18-21 £12 (season tickets) £15
under 18s £8 (season tickets) £10
West Ham v West Brom
Adults £15
Under 16s £5
Portsmouth v Barnsley
Adults £24
18-22 £16
17 and under £7
Just a few games from the next round, not looked but I bet some charge a booking fee as well when ordering these.
Burnley might not be ripping people off which is the conclusion you could come to reading some replies to the club. It is hard to work out why the ground wasn't full last round when some many would take all the family on if it was a bit cheaper.
When does it become the parents duty and not the clubs job to get your kids "hooked" on supporting the club.

It might be in the clubs best interest to try and get ad many fans on board as possible, even more so the younger kids before they turn elsewhere or to other hobbies.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 8:42 amWhen does it become the parents duty and not the clubs job to get your kids "hooked" on supporting the club.
However it doesnt really matter anyway does it.
The club has their plans on going what they think is correct.
People will either go on or sit at home, theres several reasons as to why, price/value will be up there with the main reasons.
I did all I could to get my lad hooked, and he was until 13, then he got bored, found a new hobby, and now wont even watch us in tv at home as "its boring and we are rubbish "
I used to beg to go and watch us at Halifax, Rochdale and the likes, maybe it's just a sign of the times and the modern day teenager.

Its 1 per full paying adult, in 1 part if the ground and I'm led to believe its sold out, but never is.
It's not going to help with a child going home to ask his parents to take him on if its a season ticket or nothing type option.
I know 2 families who'd never been on previously wanted to go on recently, one didnt bother v Sunderland as there was something silly regards not buying tickets where your ST was.
The other went on and the child loved it, now has a Burnley strip to go with the Man United and Barcelona one.
Who knows the eventual result, but there were potential in both cases to get families on and/or spending on Burnley.

I hope CT or someone can clear this up for me. I am a season ticket holder in the JHU but for the Peterborough game i waited until the seats went on general sale and thought i would go in The BL with my daughter and because i bought the tickets online and before the day i got the discount.
This time they have decided to add the season ticket holder discount onto the tickets so if i wait again and give up my seat in the anticipation of getting one in the BL will I have to pay full price at that point? Would i pay the full price for my daughter as she is not a season ticket holder?

Re: 2019/20: Burnley v Norwich City – Cup Ticket Information
you can look at this a few ways
1: The club aren't prepared to spend 20 million on a decent player to potentially help us earn 100 million + per season but still want to charge "x amount" for a cup tie
2: We want the club to spend 20 million on a player but we aren't willing to put 15 quid in to the coffers for a cup tie to help them do that
3: We want the club to spend 20 million on a player and are willing to put 15 quid in to the coffers for a cup tie but know the club still wont spend the money on a decent player to help us retain our PL status
I know which I think it is.......

Some absolute bellendary on this thread. It’s £15 for god sake, paper round money.
What is daft is the extra cost for non season ticket holders.

But my understanding would be that ST holders will pay the ST holders price whether they get their own seat or another one and non ST holders will pay the slightly higher price.
Re: 2019/20: Burnley v Norwich City – Cup Ticket Information
I think that the club possibly view it that the price is £20 but ST holders are benefiting from being a ST holder and their tickets are discounted by £5.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 7:19 pmSome absolute bellendary on this thread. It’s £15 for god sake, paper round money.

For the last game i believed they charged a lower price if you bought a ticket in advance of the day. This time it is more seasont ticket dependant.Leisure wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 7:21 pmNot sure what you mean by 'This time they have decided to add the season ticket holder discount onto the ticket'?

My question was whether i would still get my season ticket discount even if didn't claim my seat and waited for general sale. Thanks or answering though and i hope that is the case.
Re: 2019/20: Burnley v Norwich City – Cup Ticket Information
In fact I would go as far to say ticket sales over the whole season have very little impact on transfer. I read somewhere that Burnley’s ticket revenue was less than 5% of their total annual revenue which makes the decision to increase prices from the previous round a little baffling.

Yeah maybe, as a season ticket holder though it doesn’t bother me if non season ticket holders get it for £15 too. Maybe if it was a glamour tie in the quarter final for example where there would be more demand, but not for this one. More than merrier IMO.
Re: 2019/20: Burnley v Norwich City – Cup Ticket Information
I agree but it seems that the club are possibly using these different prices to demonstrate the increased benefits of being a ST holder.Granny WeatherWax wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 7:34 pmYeah maybe, as a season ticket holder though it doesn’t bother me if non season ticket holders get it for £15 too. Used to run/manage a business but just organise Accy Clarets now! And yes, whilst in business terms revenue is massively important, for most football clubs (especially Premier League clubs) revenue from gate receipts is a very small % of income.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 8:57 pmcourse you do, you run a business so understand how revenue effects decisions

The point is, it doesn’t matter what the club does, there’ll always be some people having a pop. I currently pay £32.50 a month to watch my team play in one of the world’s leading sports competitions against some of the best players on the planet. I regard that as one of the best bargains in any branch of the entertainment industry. You say you can only get one, but I think a second one will only cost you £50 - a little over £2.50 a match!
Nor do I regard £15/20 a ticket, half price for kids, as being unreasonable. Compare that to taking the kids to a pantomime full of B-list celebs on Manchester or Liverpool. It’s not a whole lot more than going to the pictures! I’ll concede that the extra fiver for non-season tickets is a bit mean spirited, but you could argue it’s commercially sensible to reward loyalty.

can easily cost you 30 quid for 2 drinks on the Vegas Strip, so going on the Turf as a season ticket holder is good value imho (I'd have one if Iived back home)scouseclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 9:12 pmThe point is, it doesn’t matter what the club does, there’ll always be some people having a pop.
I took advantage of the under 10 free season ticket , then moved stands and didnt mind paying more as me and my son preferred the atmosphere.
The offer is ok, but restricted.
I'm not sure what the club can do, I'd just love to see loads more kids on the Turf and a full house every week.
It would bother me if I was paying x amount and kids were getting on free.

The last round gate was just 8k with 1.5k away fan's and only around 6.5k Burnley fan's on, lets say like you suggest 1.5k from Norwich that makes 11.5k Burnley fans on in a gate of 13k, why would another 4.5k Burnley fan's turn up with a price increase and against Norwich.
Not a chance, more like 500/600 from Norwich with it being an afternoon ko and having to set off about 5am it will be nothing near 11/13k, the gate will be below the last round of about 7k

Not playing a team twice a season playing a team in a league below and more of a chance of going into the next round and not having to set off at silly o'clock Helpsclaretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 8:35 amNorwich took 1600 to Preston in the last round

They played each other for the last 3 seasons in the league, it was a 3pm kick off. How many hours later would they be able to set off if only going as far as Preston rather than all the way to Burnley
