This not a thread about Burnley or a Sheffield United/Chris love in.

Home win for me.

West Ham have certainly improved already under Moyes.

Anyone else getting flashes of car adverts on the broadcast ?
Almost a kind of subliminal advertising.

I'm watching on a stream of Sky Sports Main Event btw.

Good better for us if Sheff Utd win this, they'll not be in any trouble this season that's for sure,West Ham just might be though, and the more teams in the mix the more chance we can survive.

West Ham injury time equaliser scrubbed off by VAR for handball.
Carragher calls the decision a joke but for me, whether accidental or not, they gained an advantage via the handball. This is one of the changes I am happy with.

Wonder how you'd feel if you gained an advantage by someone heading a ball into your arm 2 feet away which probably happened in 0.1 of a second leading to your hard earned goal being struck off

Hard earned or not if the ball hadn’t hit his arm it would have gone across him and he couldn’t have passed it to Snodgrass. I appreciate it was totally accidental, I just don’t agree with goals being scored after that.

But it happens in the normal run of play all the time. You’re penalizing a play for a triviality. Also, when does “buildup” start?

This. Surely it's no different than if the incident happened in the six yard box and the ball went directly into the net off his hand.

That's fine. If that's your views the rules are rules, black and white.

Don't ever let me catch you whining about VAR though and 1mm offsides or anything else!

AI and computer learning could easily take over referring. Maybe we should replace the players too, completely removing the human element.

It's like when a ball is hit at a defenders arm when it should go past him to set up a chance of a goal, it's no infringement, however If the defenders arm isnt there the ball isnt deviated away and the goal chance doesnt go with it.

Opposite way round 30 yards from goal, Rice has to then pick a pass, Snodgeass has to do a bit, then beat the keeper and we rule it out.

The game needs goals.

Why can you speculate with one scenario and not the other.

I understand if it's the goalscorers arm, but it was the creator in that instance, so in that scenario its not handball for me.
Totally accidental and unavoidable

I'd be annoyed

Btw, I can guarantee you didn't think Dyche deserved to be manager of the year when we got into Europe did you?

As for awesome performance, West Ham gifted the goal and had plenty of chances to equalize.

I agree with TT. Although Rice didn't deliberately handle, the ball hitting his arm in effect controlled the ball to his advantage (otherwise it would've gone to his left and not fallen into his stride). Handball.
Re Carragher: a lot of pundits dont have much analytical ability at all and just like stirring up controversy.

Seems VAR is mostly used for looking for a reason to disallow a goal after every goal.
I thought it was supposed to be for clear and obvious errors, not looking for little things half way back up the pitch.

Yes it was handball by the letter of the new stupid handball rule, but still...

VAR isn't for the fan in the stadium it is to build the tension for the watching at home audience, a bit like when they delay who is kicked out of In the jungle and X factor etc. Fans in the stadium irrelevant and an inconvenience when you can computer generate crowds and noise.

LAW 12: Handling the ball
It is an offence if a player:
deliberately touches the ball with their hand/arm, including moving the hand/arm towards the ball
gains possession/control of the ball after it has touched their hand/arm and then:
scores in the opponents’ goal
creates a goal-scoring opportunity

scores in the opponents’ goal directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper.

Whatever you think of VAR and it's application, the decision here was in line with the current laws of the game. (And, in any case, Sheff U deserved the win- despite not being at their best).

It alright talking down the Sheffield performance but imagine if it was us tonight-three points against a re-juvenated side and 5th in the League

And YES I was promoting SD as manager of the season when we got into 7th-my mates were getting tired of me

As Burnley fans we sometimes need to take an honest and neutral look at other teams and their performances

The plaudits that Sheffield got before and after the game have been immense. What I like about them is the PASSION they play withr. When you have that you just don't get trounced. They have the highest amount of clean sheets in 4 years over the various leagues. Come on guys lets give them a bit of credit

I'll be watching all the games this weekend on Sky but I'll be watching the Champ games, and having the Prem games on as background 'entertainment' while I get ******. VAR is killing the game and relegation, for me, is no longer a worry.

They have transformed lower league players we would never had considered-Norwood, Basham, McGoldrick, Rousset,Baldock-could mention more

Re-assuringly they will prove this season money does not guarantee success. However passion, spirit and great management of the team will take you a long way

Stockley park tonight robbed West Ham,Snodgrass,West Ham's fans( who spent good money)Armchair fans watching Sky,David Moyes,it was VAR that disallowed
the goal it was given by the ref...its no fun anymore going to games you can celebrate the thing we watch football for...goals.

pre VAR I watched as much footy as I could, didn't matter the league etc - I've missed so many games this season, it's utter shite - the powers that be are trying to make every game finish 0-0 by ruling out good goals for nonsense reasons (the laws need changing). I'm bored to death of it already, it's absolutely ruined a game I used to love with a passion
