Disgusting!
You can't tar them all with the same brush.
Ian Measham was okay, for example.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
Just seen footage of the incident. SUV type vehicle pulling out of a side street to turn right, doesn't see an oncoming motorcyclist and continues their manoeuvre. The motorcyclist hits the car fully side on catapulting the rider over the top of the car and through the air for some distance.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
I came past earlier on and the Motorcyclist was receiving treatment. It really didn't look good and the car / bike was a real mess.
Hope they are OK.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
I’d never ride a motorbike due to the risk involved, most accidents are out of their control. I considered getting a road bike over Christmas but I just haven’t the balls for it, I know there’s car crashes all the time but crashing at 30mph in a car and being hit side on at 30mph on a bike are completely different.
Really hope he’s ok

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
I don't often get up that way but yesterday went to Howarths woox yard. Coming back to join the main road and turn right toward Burnley there was a white van parked right next to the junction preventing any vision whatsoever for traffic approaching from Burnley.
I had to nudge out to a point where my car was almost in the middle of the road before I could see.
The van was where it shoudn't have been parked but some people just don't give a toss.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
Do car crashes happen as a result of people in cars making mistakes.........yes.
Do car crashes happen because of people driving like complete dick heads when the conditions aren’t suitable......yes.
Why do we need posts like Bordeauxclaret’s?

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
A question I ask myself everyday.
Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
Parking is disgusting up there, theres vehicles if all shapes and sizes dumped all over the place, in Bus stops, on pavements, over dipped curbs.
It's an issue just getting out of a side street sometimes.
You can be the most cautious driver ever and be involved in an accident uo there.
It's not a coincidence that, that stretch of road hits the headlines more than any other.

Careful Macca, you could be accused of being racist.
Your post is factually correct though.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
Spot on. This is exactly what happened to me about 3 years ago. Neither car driving at excessive speed but someone pulling out from Ivy St with a restricted view, and we had a low speed impact.MACCA wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 9:25 amParking is disgusting up there, theres vehicles if all shapes and sizes dumped all over the place, in Bus stops, on pavements, over dipped curbs.

Unfortunately last night one vehicle was a bike, and it would appear that one of them was driving more quickly than in my incident - though not necessarily speeding. (A car hits a bike with both travelling at 15 mph, and it's not good for the cyclist).
I had a really close shave again here about 10 days ago, with a (presumably unsighted) parked vehicle pulling out right in front of me, but fortunately I always keep my speed right down on that stretch nowadays.
Some would like to see a racial element to this, but it's the inconsiderate / dangerous parking of all visitors to those outlets and that area that cause the problem.
It needs much stricter parking restrictions on that stretch, and a period of strict implementation with zero tolerance if we are going to reduce the number of incidents. A 20mph enforcement zone would be helpful too.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
I’m no racist and didn’t want Brexit (the two are linked), but I agree the number of idiots parking close to junctions all over Colne road is the reason for these accidents. I’ve had to pull out of my road a number of times with cars parked leading into the road making it impossible to see past.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
The two are NOT linked. Granted there may be those who voted for brexit because of their racist views, but the two are most definitely not linked.
To suggest otherwise is at best misguided, and at worst ignorant.

Re: Colne Rd Shut Again
they most certainly are linked.
The now famous term "legitimate concerns about immigration" is really just a weasel worded way of saying "keep England English" invented by people cleverer and more sinister than the knuckle-draggers to give their bigotry credibility.
