Brentford 3-0 up now.
They seem to be in some very good form, especially at home.

I see Watkins scored again. That's 18 goals in 26 games.
Re: Today's footy
Palace 1-1, much better from them, crowd loud as expected, only palaces 9th home goal this season

Re: Today's footy
1-1 at the Palace, for all Arsenal's possession their only effort on target was the goal, and they look vunerable at set-pieces,might be an area we can attempt to exploit in a few weeks time.

A couple of wedges of Brie would secure the services of a player from French League 2.

Re: Today's footy
Overturned a yellow card tackle from Aubameyang, red card, big controversy, it looks a nasty tackle, then they show the tackle on the big screen after the decision, shocked boos all round the home ends

Re: Today's footy
Does Aubameyang’s red mean he’ll miss the game against us, or will he be suspended for their FA Cup tie?

Re: Today's footy
Hope so. I thought it was only the League Cup that would be included.

Re: Today's footy
Does Aubameyang's ban mean he misses their trip to TM?,it's usually 3 games for a straight red isn't it.

Re: Today's footy
Done a brief bit of research - looks like it’ll be violent conduct, 3 premier league matches suspended, so out against us. Happy to be corrected.
Having some luck on injuries for opposition teams at the moment. Ndidi is out for Leicester; Maguire, McTominay and Pogba our for Utd; Kane out for Spurs; now Aubameyang hopefully out for Arsenal when we play them.

Re: Today's footy
That's true but the major difference is all those teams have replacements that won't fundamently weaken their starting XI,even if they have star names missing, the bigger problem is getting our own first teamers fit and firing,if we can field our best XI,and they're on form we can be a match for most teams in this league, but we've had injury niggles all season, and some of our regulars haven't performed to their usual high standards, that's why we're towards the wrong end of the table, coupled with a lack of squad depth.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 2:30 pmDone a brief bit of research - looks like it’ll be violent conduct, 3 premier league matches suspended, so out against us. Disagree that those players can be replaced without weakening their sides:tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 2:36 pmThat's true but the major difference is all those teams have replacements that won't fundamently weaken their starting XI,even if they have star names missing, the bigger problem is getting our own first teamers fit and firing,if we can field our best XI,and they're on form we can be a match for most teams in this league, but we've had injury niggles all season, and some of our regulars haven't performed to their usual high standards, that's why we're towards the wrong end of the table, coupled with a lack of squad depth.
Ndidi - arguably, but in my opinion, best CDM in the league
Maguire - the alternative is Jones, who makes mistakes every time he plays. The question is more if we’ll target that.
McTominay - in my opinion, United’s most important player.
Pogba - not sure what’s happening with him, but he’s not playing so assume he’s out for us. Without doubt a world class talent when playing and on form. Their alternatives are Pereira and Lingaard who are several levels below (although the formers ball to Martial for his goal against us was class).
Kane - best striker in the Prem? JM says they “can’t play normally without him”.
Aubameyang - 2nd highest scorer in the Prem. Arsenals only recognised striker.
I think the difference between the top Prem clubs and us is they tend to have 4-5 real quality players, so I would say injuries to those players disproportionately impact them. Playing Lennon instead of Hendrick on right wing impacts us less than Leicester losing Ndidi, I’d say.
Do agree the results are about us recovering from niggly injuries and getting players back on form, just saying those injuries mean we’ve got a better chance in a few games we might otherwise write off.

Couldn’t find much on it, but this link says:Barry_Chuckle wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 2:58 pmThink he'll miss 2 league games and FA cup v Bournemouth.
Just like in 2018-19, any yellow card picked up by a player in a game will be restricted to the particular competition they were playing in.
So, if Marouane Fellaini is cautioned in a Premier League match for Manchester United, it does not hang over his head in the FA Cup.
Likewise, if Eden Hazard receives a booking for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup, it will not count towards his tally when he is playing in the Premier League.

Re: Today's footy
Watford 2 nil up at Bournemouth and out of the bottom 3. I wonder if the Bournemouth board will panic and get shut of Eddie Howe? The way they seem to be rolling over so easily must be causing them some thought?

So Aubamyangs red card will count in the FA Cup and he will not remain banned for the Burnley match...NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 3:10 pmCouldn’t find much on it, but this link says:

Re: Today's footy
Tbf Watford should never be in the bottom 3 with some of the players they have. Wouldn't be surprised if they finish mid-table.

"However, while there is no crossover when it comes to yellow cards, suspensions arising from the presentation of a red card will apply to all competitions"
Re: Today's footy
Cup games are definitely included in suspensions.

Drinkwater apparently involved in all 3 Citeh goals
Re: Today's footy
Despite Villa's scoreline today I still think it's Norwich, Bournemouth and us for relegation the way things are at present. Maybe SD will prove me wrong and sign a couple of players but if not I really don't think our current squad with it's record of injuries is good enough to survive.

The three sides currently in the bottom three ship goals for fun. We don’t apart from against the big six and the occasional mistake. That will probably again prove the difference in May.
