Relieved that I'm too busy to watch the game
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Going into the next few games, we look like we can create chances with Hendrick playing off Wood.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Nods, they were looking shaky and we were doing well. The offside rattled us a bit, but the penalty completely knocked the stuffing out of us and gave them the confidence they ere lacking and the freedom to kick things up a notch.
The flappy dance by Pope for their second was, well I don't know what it was, maybe his boot got caught or he saw someone he knew in the crowd.
VAR turned the tide of the match, which is both annoying and ridiculous. We looked to be up for it and in with a chance to get something before the nonsense.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Tbh VAR hasnt turned the tide of the match. The onfield decisions were offside and penalty. Both dubious but then not overturn ed by VAR.
We would never have got either of those decisions
We have played pretty well though and I thought we also reacted well to their goal. (Which came after a foul on Taylor that Friend waved advantage when it kind of stuck in the middle so not really much advantage - he should have brought it back after firat couple of touches)
That foul by Rudiger was totally intentional - he knew what he was doing and did it sneakily be out of sight. thats why Tarks wend down holding head to try and force the decision..

What is the point in buying Vydra if we are going to go out of our way to not use him?

Positive thought..
West ham lost
Norwich losing at Man Utd
Villa playing man city
Should at least ensure no one catching us up this weekend, even if we cant extend our points.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Have to say VAR is very clinical on off-side and maybe hard to take (depending which side it went). VAR on penalties often has pundits disagreeing for days. Will never get this right-goes on pure judgement

It's the first time Chelsea have been ahead at halftime at home since August.

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Look Lowton pulled out of the tackle , not a pen .
God know what happened for the 2nd goal Pope just got it wrong with Mee .
2nd half , hummmmmmmmmmmmmmm not sure what to say

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
You can't score using an arm so that is not part of the decision. Mee's side was slightly in front of the Chelsea guy at the top of the pitchTHEWELLERNUT70 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 4:00 pmI actually though the offside was given for Wood being adjudged to be part of play and NOT Mee. Wood has a fully outstretched arm and is offside

Atkinson I believe.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Today is another good example of why refs don't go to the pitch side monitors, if they did they would either appear to be stupid or liars I still think the controlling elite run a closed shop.
Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Same as for the second half, let's see if we can be different

Lowton did what Lowton does. An amateur d!ckish challenge, whether he tried to pull out or not he should never ever have gone to ground

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
I think Pope has made quite a few howlers this year. Someone on the Board said this week he was the best English keeper. I think he will soon lose his England squad place. Henderson, Pickford, Foster, all miles ahead I am afraidm and maybe a few more
As a result I think that sky high cross he mis-judged v Liverpool was more his mistake than a deflection off Chris Woodg

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
I have no complaints with the pen decision but I can understand why it might not be given as he’d lost the ball dived and Lowton had pulled out. But our goal should have stood and father Abraham’s shove should have ruled the goal out. We could have gone in 1 up at best and 1-1 at worst

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
Mirrors my thoughts somewhat. We can wait for a physical box to box midfielder, a defensive midfielder who is limited to supporting the defence and spraying out passes from the back isn't what we need now or going forward, but we could really use a specialist attacking midfielder. Someone to link midfield and attack, especially with Barnes out of action for awhile.
Jay playing alongside Wood isn't working as well as the Wood / Barnes partnership and putting 3 defenders on our front two nulifies our long ball and crossing threat. I still think Kovalenko is the bloke we need for that job and I suspect he would be fairly cheap ( 3 - 4 million ). A potent creative midfielder with a good range of passing and the ability to mix it up in the centre of the pitch would give us a lot more options and make us less predictable.

This is boring. Just downright boring. Teams similar to us have been turning up at Stamford Bridge and getting results since the start of the season, but of course we have to get spanked don’t we.

We are heading for the worst goal average in the PL. And that with Saints having let 9, and Watford 8 in respective defeats

Re: MIGHTY CLARETS versus Lampard's Embargo lifted
I know it’s Chelsea etc but it’s not looking good. Get the feeling it’s our year to finally drop. We simply can’t keep punching above our weight without improving the first team.

Every single time Lennon touches the ball he gives it away. Getting embarrassing now
