I read somewhere that Drinkwater has played Man City 4 times in his last 5 league games

That's one thing I won't miss at all if we get relegated. Turning up to play the likes of Liverpool and City knowing you're going to get walloped. No fun whatsoever.

Inconsistency, world beaters on the day & also capable of getting beat by Norwich, they haven’t turned up often enough & dropped silly points throughout the course whereas Liverpool have been unstoppable.

Nepotism and Dyche... For the wages of Drinkwater and Crouch space-wasters they could have bought Danny Ings.

Wheels within wheels, like Trippier to Spurs for £3.5M.

What was that about?

£35M OK.

Comments from AV forum:

Having a mare of a debut so far. Disappointing

at fault for both goals and so far off the pace he makes Hourihane look speedy

For his own career sake , take him off

How quickly can we send this turd back to Chelsea?

I'm struggling to think of a worse debut

The worst is he doesn't seem bothered

And Drinkwater was described as being woefully off the pace. Perhaps we never played him because he just didn't take it seriously.

Not involved with City’s 5th. Ambling around now 10 yards from the ball.

See Drinkwater straight in the Villa team after two days only training. Smith has already made him feel good by publicly saying he has already had an impact around the club in training

Did it not take SD three weeks before he played him in the U-23

"Dyche-fit" my arse. This saying is just a way out of not playing people. Be interesting to see what DD does today but the first step in management of motivating, and giving someone a feeling of worth has already been achieved
Are you watching his masterclass against city?

Perhaps Dyche was right again?

What a surprise, our cover midfielder for 6months isn’t actually the superstar people on here thought.

One myth down, surely they must be right about Ballon Dor nominee Vydra?

Maybe, just maybe the manager who sees them play each day is right??

He can’t be playing as bad as that. They’ve made two subs and haven’t hooked him off yet. Douglas Luiz has come off to be replaced by someone with the intriguing name of Marvellous Nakamba.

This topic highlights the problem on this forum and a problem stemmed from Dyche’s hoof ball. The fans are so divided and toxic atm.

You have one side praying Drinkwater does well for Villa to slam Dyche and the opposite side laughing at every Drinkwater touch to argue back. What is wrong with you all?

Drinkwater was **** for us and had a **** debut for Villa, he doesn’t play for us anymore so I don’t care. I’m not sure 1 game against one of the best sides in Europe is even a fair judgement either way given the lack of games under his belt in the last 2 years.

Just for balance because I don’t care either way but why are people so fickle in football? He’s played 1 game against Man City and you are happily writing him off? I’d hope you wouldn’t write off our players so quickly. Pope was shocking yesterday, so he’s now the worst goalkeeper ever? Is this how football is now...

Know you shouldn’t/can’t judge against 2 games against Man City, but that’s 10 goals for them against a team with Drinkwater in midfield.

Twitter full of Villa fans not impressed with Smith and questioning why he put Drinkwater straight into team
