Victor Wanyama
What's people's thoughts in this guy? Doesn't seem to be getting much game time at spurs and I think he would be a perfect fit for our midfield. Strong, athletic and needs to re establish himself again.

He'll probably wet his underwear laughing when he sees our wage structure.

Out of price bracket I'd think. Will have choices where to go.

Re: Victor Wanyama
Normally he would be a great signing but at the minute we need players on an upward curve.
Decent experienced players that fall out of favour haven't really worked out that well for us recently.

Re: Victor Wanyama
Probably, but if spurs wanted rid surely a deal could be agreed. If we are willing to spunk 50k PW on Hart and Drinkwater we must be able to afford his wages. Add to that defours wages off the books.

Re: Victor Wanyama
Wanyama was a suggestion of mine and a few others in here in the summer, I doubt he’d command a massive fee but the wages may be an issue, although he’s not really the creative type we need in the middle, however we do still need a player of his Ilk to improve us.

Re: Victor Wanyama
Agree with you about needing younger players, I'd prioritise wingers for the younger players but I genuinely think he is in improvement on what we have, still only 29 and in that position could have another 5 good years leftQuickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 11:38 amNormally he would be a great signing but at the minute we need players on an upward curve.

He might do well for us but I'm struggling to think of players who have reinvented themselves at other clubs in the premier league having been out of favour for over 6 months. Especially around the 29 aged group.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 11:45 amAgree with you about needing younger players, I'd prioritise wingers for the younger players but I genuinely think he is in improvement on what we have, still only 29 and in that position could have another 5 good years left

Re: Victor Wanyama
Fair point. That's the type of player we have been targeting in previous windows too. To me it's either him or scout abroad because even the likes of Phillips at Leeds would be north of 20m and even then are we a big pull? An opportunity to showcase your skills in the PL for a foreigner is more than a pull no matter which club you are.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 11:53 amHe might do well for us but I'm struggling to think of players who have reinvented themselves at other clubs in the premier league having been out of favour for over 6 months. Re: Victor Wanyama
He's on about £10k per week more than our current top salary by the looks of it & contracted to 2021, doubt he'd take a wage cut and come to TM.
Only racked up c 25 minutes Prem time for Spurs this season over 2 sub appearances earlier in the season & not a regular in the 2 previous seasons either, so Spurs possibly happy to get him off the books.
Celtic (where he played before Southampton) are often linked with him - but I guess they'd have the same salary problem as us. He's a big strong lad certainly but 28 knocking on 29 wouldn't bring down our average midfield age profile much & he'll be wanting to maximise his earnings over the next few years whilst he can.

Re: Victor Wanyama
His style would make him a Cork upgrade, he passes and tackles well, and is good in the air, so the key would seem to be if he runs far enough for Dyche. Dyche would know that from their OPTA subscriptions. A good runner is crucial in a two.
Potentially though this is the kind of signing we need, still only 28. Wages shouldn’t be a problem, an extra half a million a year over our wage cap can be accommodated by tweaking the transfer fee.

Re: Victor Wanyama
Not on bench for Spurs even with their injuries which has to mean something not right
Certainly has the physique/strength we are missing in midfield
Wasted money on DD for the first half of the season so a loan could be the answer
Oliver Skipp seemed to be rated by Poch

Re: Victor Wanyama
I did put out a story from SSN last week that Steven N'zonzi was reported to be looking for a way out of his current loan in Turkey
Wages would be high but prob better than Wanyama

Can you get me some?

Used to be very good, I haven’t seen him play in a long time though. Isn’t he a sick note?

Off the top of my head, I’d argue that Jonny Evans and James Milner fit that description.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 11:53 amHe might do well for us but I'm struggling to think of players who have reinvented themselves at other clubs in the premier league having been out of favour for over 6 months. Wanyama strikes me as a player that needs to be playing to find rhythm. I think he’d be a great summer signing but maybe not have a huge impact if he signed now.

On 65k a week according to this.

With a creative signing on fee plus bonus it would be doable.

Certainly is the calibre of player we should be looking at. We need a bit of steel in midfield for sure!

Perfect to boss our midfield, sign him on quick. (In my dreams)
