Re: Tax Fraud Claim
It's a common fraud at the moment. If HMRC are sueing you, that's not how they do it. If you could get a device that issues a fatal electric shock to the people on the other end of the line, this would be a good person to use it on.

Block the number, it's a big fat scam.
I'm sick and tired of calls like that, the latest being that my Amazon Prime subscription has expired
and to press 1. Yeah reet, yer scumbag. I'm not even a subscriber.

I think the only way to stop it is to send them money to their Nigerian call centre. They will then stop calling you and promise to send your money back.
Re: Tax Fraud Claim
Oh yes had that as well and I dont have Prime. But how do they eventually scam you these people. The tax call asked me to press 1 which I didn't.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 4:48 pmBlock the number, it's a big fat scam.

Re: Tax Fraud Claim
I keep getting them about my Sky warranty has lapsed... my standard reply is "yeah you thick **** it lapsed over 10 years ago"
Had the HMRC call about 6 times the other week from 2 different numbers both of which now blocked....
Before that it was "£600 has gone out of your bank account"
Scammers are the **** of the earth...

I believe, but not speaking from experience, that they can hijack your line if you press 1 (other numbers are available)
and then they are free to 'phone whoever, wherever they want at your expense.

I used a whistle down the phone many years ago. My sisters were getting heavy breathing calls from some perv.
I answered the phone but stayed silent for a minute then blew it loudly.

We have sky talk shield now and it works a treat.
I get calls on my mobile about my accident and tell them i must have had a severe injury causing brain damage as I cannot remember the event. We do not get beyond that

Re: Tax Fraud Claim
I once won the Spanish lottery according to a letter I received. The con was, as I discovered on a second letter, I had to send about £50 (can't remember the exact amount) to cover the cost of the insurance for sending such a large cheque (this was before internet banking of course). I often wondered how many people sent off their 50 quids but it must have been a serious number for them to bother with the scam.
