It was about Barnes and the requirement for surgery. Any other injury news will be confirmed this afternoon at the press conference.

Not an easy one to come back from - best wishes for a speedy recovery

2 more injuries would probably finish us off- still at least it’s happened in January so we can get some new players in...

Need another striker on loan then urgently

But give your head a wobble Dyche for playing him for a month unfit - poor poor management

Without Barnes we are likely to play better football but get worse results. If we had a decent 4th choice striker who Dyche had confidence in I wouldn't be too worried but as we don't lets hope he maybe brings in a loan signing as cover for the rest of the season

We knew he knew the club knew that this would be a lengthy injury and yet we carried on playing him.
I am surprised this happened as Dyche usually gives as much time and analyst to when a players fully fit or not as we all know.
Big blow this as it sethers the best partnership up and chances of getting the most goals
If we see him around March time it will take some time to get up to speed so we have now got 3 forwards one more injury in that department and as it is now we will be right in the pure proverbial.

Clearly not been fit for a while. I suppose the question might be why did they leave it so long?

This just about forces our hand. Lets see if the Board have the cahoonahs to pull a proper striker out the hat on loan if need be.

Time for Rigg to show his worth. Lots of good strikers not playing regularly for their club.Dwight Gale for instance was being talked about going out on loan recently. He has had weeks to think of a plan with Barnes suffering

Basically down to Jay & Wood who have shown recently they are no different to other footballers. THey do get ill and injured. May need to review Wells too

At least it forces Dyche to try something a bit different. With Jay up there we'll have to play it on the deck a bit more, which also suits Dwight and JBG, if we can ever get him fit.

I thought Dwight Gale turned out for Newcastle last week and promptly went off injured.

Newcastle have also stated that any loan deal for Dwight Gale will only be considered if it is accompanied by a commitment to buy at end of loan for £20m.

Then there's the wedges that seem to scupper any deal. :x

It's an injury that often players can play through or one that needs rest, so I don't think it is a case of them leaving it so long. It came to a head recently when Barnes played his last game and said he was fit but he clearly wasn't. That's when they got the specialist in.

Talkshite reporting him to be out for four weeks, so may get a fit Ashley back before the end of the season.

Comments like the one above, ‘poor poor management’ are f@@@ing ridiculous. Some ‘fans’ have a right axe to grind and their negativity right now is not what the club need.

So what we have a few injuries, it’s often the case after busy Xmas period and have we ever bought anyone so early in a window? Why act surprised and upset now???

Absolute drama queens.

Wood came off against Villa with heavy strapping and did not look right to me at Chelsea at the weekend
He also got a snotted nose for his troubles with Dyche reluctant to play Vydra and he would have been a good bargaining tool to prise a player it looks now he will be staying a little longer how trapped as that player been
Its proper dire straights time this if the board dont act now it's time to give up

I'm pretty sure that if Barnes had ever said he wasn't fit to play, then Dyche wouldn't play him.

Afterall, this is Sean Dyche, not Jimmy Mullen ;)

Why ? No need to play him with 2 other strikers available - and you could see why as was very very poor in the games he played - its called stubborness and our manager has quite a lot of it.

I would go as far as the club obviously needs a good kick up the ass and it is ok to criticize you know as far from perfect.

From the outside recruitment has been very poor and plenty of mismanagement happening.

You didn't need to be an expert to see he was struggling. It's not like he was playing well either, so to keep picking him ahead of Jay Rod was mental.

Exactly but Dyche is a very stubborn bugger as we all know and could be now recovering from the op and he could have played the other lads

Why don’t you give them a metaphorical “kick up the ass” by going and supporting another team ?
It sounds like from what you post on here it will be better for yourself and all of us if you did that.
Can’t be good for you being this unhappy and hating Dyche and the owners so much - it’s a very strange existence to spend what is supposed to be something you enjoy in a permanent state of anger and disappointment.
