A guy as nice as he seemed, once had a couple of minutes chatting in the canteen at the old Granada studios while waiting to be served in the canteen.

RIP Derek Fowldes. Yes Minister was one of the cleverest commodores ever made. It was Maggie Thatcher’s favourite btw. She used to watch it for policy, and to check arguments she was likely to encounter. She always insisted it was spot on for how it all worked. Thanks for the laughs Derek. Played the tough nut boss in Heatbeat, having got promoted from PC in Z Cars.

RIP Derek and God Bless

Did anyone else find Basil Brush the most annoying character ever invented? If it hadn't been a puppet I'd have shot it. Boom Bloody Boom.

Jim Hacker " The Daily Mirror is read by people who think they run the country. The Guardian is read by the people who think they should run the country. The Times is read by the people that actually do run the country, and the Daily Mail is read by the wives of those who run the Country. The Financial Times is read by those who own the country. The Morning Star is read by people who think the country should be run by another country, and the Daily Telegraph is read by people who think it already is .... "

Sir Humphrey: " And what about the people who read the Sun, Prime Minister ? "

Bernard Woolley : " Sun readers don't care who run the country, as long as she's got big t*ts ! "

Priceless ! He got some great lines in that series ! RIP Derek Fowlds ! :(

Heartbeat is re-run here weekly, has been for at least the last decade, one of the best TV shows ever.

R.I.P Mr Blaketon.

I worked with him on an episode of Heartbeat. He was indeed a lovely man, he had lots of stories in the bar of the hotel we stayed in. He was very candid about one particular member of the cast who was not liked.

First Basil loses his friend, then Laurence gets attacked on social media and Burnley win. Not a good week for Foxes.
