Andre Gray
With him getting very little game time or starts, and with Watford this week getting a new striker from Udinese its rumoured he could be joining Leeds or Forest. Might be the right person for Leeds who have gone through a poor spell recentl. They are also missing a lot of chances
I doubt Watford would loan him to us ???

I think geography would rule us out. Reckon he'd opt for Leeds after his popstar girlfriend tells him she'd prefer London to Leeds trips.

If they are missing a lot of chances, how would bringing Andre Gray in change that?

What's the difference between London to Leeds and London to Manchester (Cheshire) trips? I'm not saying I would want him back but fairly certain players prefer to play in the Premier League too.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 6:23 pmI think geography would rule us out. Re: Andre Gray
Depends how long he would have on the ball. If we broke from the half way line and he had possession, by the time he got to the 18 yard line, the ball would still be in the centre circle. Long gone. If he’s running into the ball in or around the 18 yard box and there’s no time to think... yeah, that’s the time for Andre.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 6:32 pmI'd prefer Gray on a one on one over anyone on our team right now.
I’d love him here again.... if we could play to his strengths. Trouble is those strengths are pretty much nullified at this level.
So that would have to be in the championship. I don’t want that.

Re: Andre Gray
Bobinho-because hes probably still a very decent championship striker with good pace, and can find space (better than Bamford).Did he not score about 25 the year we came up, and that wasn't a full season, plus around 5 assists.

Re: Andre Gray
He’s not at Premier League standard. We found that out when he was with us and his time at Watford has reinforced this.
I’d still be very surprised if Watford loaned him out considering the precarious position that they’re in.

Good job we only create a one on one opportunity once every 5 games then.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 6:32 pmI'd prefer Gray on a one on one over anyone on our team right now.
Seriously, purely as an observation: we do not create those sort of chances.

We had their pants down with his sale, not sure he’d be good enough in our team now with our limited midfield supply, his touch has improved tho

Re: Andre Gray
Gray will score goals if you play to his strengths but few teams can afford to at this level and he isn't of sufficient quality to do the difficult stuff.
It isn't a slant on him, it's just the facts of playing against International players nearly every week.He will be a real threat in a Championship team.
Anyway he scored against THEM so he doesn't get a slagging from me!

Re: Andre Gray
Don’t see any debate on this. Yes he is quick and was good for us but we have hugely upgraded now with Wood, who is a much more complete striker, and jay who has less pace, but much more of a brain and a lot more quality.

Re: Andre Gray
The idea does not fill me with enthusiasm-I opened this post more as information for fellow clarets
However there might be a different view on this with one hour to go on transfer deadline day, with our activity having been zilch
For me a replacement striker for Barnes between now and the Norwich game is absolutely essential. What if Jay and Wood are both not available for certain games-it is possible

Not a patch on Barnes and Wood.

Please no. God no. I can't stand him. A vile entity.
Also, he's sh1t at the level we play at.

Re: Andre Gray
He’s having a hernia operation, as I understand, which is a routine procedure with a short recovery time. Not sure why it should be any longer for an elite athlete receiving the best medical care.dougcollins wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 8:36 pmNot with our past recuperation record he won't.

If he won’t play again this season then you would have thought we would have postponed the operation until the end of the season. Guessing he’ll be training in 6 weeks and available for selection in 8.

Don't want to worry anyone but didn't Gibson have a hernia op & has had another since & broken down too? Sorry, just putting it out there

Sam Vokes scored more goals in less starts that season.deanothedino wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 10:46 pmYep, we found that out when his goals were the main reason we didn’t get relegated.
Obviously Gray scored a few PL goals for us, as you would expect from a striker, and he was fantastic in our promotion season. But it was clear to me that he was above his level in the Premier League and I’ve seen nothing to suggest otherwise since his transfer to Watford. It would seem that their fans and management share my opinion.

Re: Andre Gray
Dyche obviously thought that an injured Barnes was a better option than Vydra. So if he expects the surgery to keep Barnes out for the season then why would he choose now to have the operation? It makes no sense. They obviously expect him to be fit by the end of the season and recovery from a hernia operation shouldn’t prevent this.deanothedino wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 10:55 pmWhy would we postpone it? Presumably because they’ve either realised he can’t perform with it or because it’s too painful.Rileybobs wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 11:03 pmDyche obviously thought that an injured Barnes was a better option than Vydra. Or they had planned the operation around a tough run of fixtures with an eye on getting Barnes available for the run in. Not sure why you think a hernia operation would keep him out for 4 months?deanothedino wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 11:08 pmPresumably because they’ve either realised he can’t perform with it or because it’s too painful.

Not as ridiculous as the suggestion that the club would wait until the recovery period for the operation is the same duration as the rest of the season, thus rendering him useless.deanothedino wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 11:17 pmI haven’t said it will (others have but not me). If it’s a standard Hernia opp he will absolutely be back training in 6 weeks, providing it is a success as they usually are.
I’m happy to put my cock on the block and say he will play again this season, I hope he can’t get a game though as it will mean Jay & Wood are scoring
