We weren't even the best Premier league winners playing anti-foorball this weekend? Newcastle had one shot on target and 34% possession.
Delighted we turned up at last in the 2nd half today. Got in their faces unlike recent games where we just stood off + let them pass around us.evensteadiereddie wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 4:11 pmOne trick pony, that Dyche bloke. Get him out. He's tired, looking for excuses - and all the rest of the **** some of our so-called "fans" have spouted over the last couple of weeks.
Absolute wankers, the lot of 'em.
A bit of a dick aren't ya lad? People were rightly calling out the **** results and performances.claretonthecoast1882 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 7:20 pmSpare a thought for the bellends who have to wait for a defeat.
Some tears tonight and we all know who they are
Fair play to you mate, I don't know where you find the energy to be so angry all the time. I'd be exhausted. We won, allow yourself a smile. You only get one life, don't waste it with hate.
So you think everything is absolutely perfect, given what had gone before.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 6:41 pmAye, sitting in 14th, closer points wise to the top 10 than the bottom 3, having just beaten the team sitting 3rd in the league.
ALL THOSE INADEQUACIES ARE CLEAR TO SEE.
Again I say, we are being done for pace....that's an inadequacy. It was indeed well deserved, but there are issues still there. Just listen back to the Sky commentary, back line constantly ball watching then dont have the pace to react.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 5:16 pmToday we came back from 1-0 down (and a dubious start to the move that led to their goal) against a team currently third in the best league in the World. It wasn't Hartlepool or Torquay that we were playing.
It was a HUGE result, and well deserved. Long may it keep the Ne'er-do-wells away!
Hahahahaha.
Absolutely.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 10:22 pmI love Ash Barnes, and in all honesty I would have picked him if fit, however I do think that having Jay Rod in the team results in better football.
Tarks got a blasting from Dyche for launching long balls up to Jay after about 10 mins play, thereafter we played mostly decent stuff exemplified by Bardsley's grit and determination which, with the help of Pope's penalty save gave us an extra gear.
That result will certainly lift the recent doom and gloom.
And increase it at Bournemouth, Norwich, etc.Nonayforever wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 10:22 pm

we beat the 3rd placed team in one of the best leagues in the world - just let that sink in.........................Right_winger wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 1:50 amI think people are going overboard with the performance. It was one of the better ones this season but that’s not exactly
Saying much. We looked toothless first half and had moments in the second. Leicester were in the main contained well, but let’s not kid ourselves that we outplayed them and had a go because we didn’t.
The penalty save was the catalyst and hopedully
It’s the moment we turn this season around and manage to keep clear of the trap door.
I'm not sure there is a 'best' to be honest because all have their good and bad points, it's just this idea that it is English so therefore has to be the best that gets me. I watched two Spanish games last night on the La Liga channel and BOTH were far superior to our game (okay one was Barcelona) but the other was Athletico Bilbao v Celta Vigo, two clubs in similar relative positions to us and Leicester and it was a stunning and far superior game to ours. I watch a lot of foreign foorball and I can't just get with this 'best league in the world' nonsense. German football is just as good (and better in some ways because the crowds are better), Italian football is good and Argentinian and Brazilian league football can be amazing. It's the over-hype and ethnocentricism that surrounds the PL that is annoying. It's a good league yes, and better than many (the French and Dutch leagues are poor) but it gets put into perspective a bit when you watch the La Liga channel which advertises it as 'the best league in the world'. You pays your money mate as they say.FactualFrank wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 5:59 pmAs the context of 'best' here is strongest - what country's top division would you go with?
See my reply to Factual Frank mate. 'Best' in football is subjective like anything else and as someone who watches a good deal of foreign football I can say that the German, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian and Argentinian leagues are just as good. Germany can be better because the crowds are something else. La Liga advertises itself as 'the best league in the world'.RalphCoatesComb wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 6:40 pmNot any more but I am very funny.
Name a better League HB
I've used this quote regularly. All clubs make mistakes, but Burnley as a football club make fewer than almost every other professional club in the country, hence being way above where their natural position should be.ewanrob wrote: ↑Sun Jan 19, 2020 10:06 pmSo you think everything is absolutely perfect, given what had gone before.
Just watch again our captain for their goal, we have to evolve if we are to stay in this league....that was shocking defending and it's happening to many times. We are being found out now, with the pace in this league...that sir is an inadequacy.
Take out the top clubs and I suspect the Prem has better quality In the rest of the league. I'd be surprised if the teams in 14th spot in Germany, France, Italy or Spain are as good as we are.houseboy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 9:32 amSee my reply to Factual Frank mate. Money doesn't make 'best' and that is what people seem to judge it by. The PL is over-hyped, over financed and over promoted. It's a very good league, one of the best, but as for THE best, it depends on what you want from football.
Genuinely think yesterday may change the transfer plans. Less urgency with 27pts mid-Jan to rush signings or overpay if we’re being held to ransom.
This.
Don't disagree with your expectation on where we may finish, again my only concern is that most teams are far quicker than us in their build up play and on one on ones and they find unbelievable pockets of space. Yes Ben Mee is an absolute warrior, but is that enough at this level...I don't think it is, but again that's just my opinion. And that's what its all about.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Mon Jan 20, 2020 10:08 amI've used this quote regularly. The team continues to perform towards the top of it's ability, as demonstrated by the league position. We may be being found out regularly, but there's currently 6 teams being found out more often. Where do you expect Burnley to finish in the league? Personally, I expect them to be bottom 6. This may be why we have different views on what is adequate, and what is, table wise, a good performance.
I would disagree. Celta Vigo are currently third bottom in La Liga and they were fantastic yesterday against Bilbao. It was a great game. 1-1 in the end but skill, speed and entertainment were there in abundance, much better than our game earlier in fact (and that is not to criticise our game). I've heard this argument before about the lower teams in other leagues and I just don't understand it. How do people know if they don't watch it regularly? There are very poor leagues (France and Holland to name two that SHOULD be better than they are) but the main leagues are just as good as ours, just not as hyped and overblown.

Doesn't take much energy to laugh at people who deserve it, cheers for the advice though
