Ben Mee

Been a liability for sometime now. Today proved how far off the pace he is.

The captaincy looks to seriously affect him (last season as well as this).

Time to give Gibson a run out? Certainly couldnt do any worse than Mee today.

won the header where we equalized, talked Taylor through the whole game who was struggling with his position today. No doubt poor for the goal and the pen but absolutely contributed massively to an incredible win

I would take the captains armband from him and give it someone like Cork in an aid to galvanise him also. Two birds one stone. Easy this managing malark ;)

I’ve been saying it for a while now. The captaincy did him no favours last season, and he seemed a different player when Heaton came back. He also put Pope under pressure once or twice with dodgy pass backs. If he wasn’t captain Gibson would have been in ages ago. You do expect him to win a header or two, which he did for the goal, but I feel uneasy with him this season.

Other than the penalty thought he was immense today winning most of the aerial battles

He has played every minute of every game this season ( I think). So could need a break. Had an off day today but would be one of the first names on my team sheet

If Gibson wasn't going to get a chance pre Christmas last season he never was . It was game over as far as starts for Burnley was concerned.

Regardless of displays, Ben Mee is undroppable, he is captain and that is it.
Just one of those things.

Giving him the captaincy has been the problem as it takes a brave manager that drops the club captain, and SD isnt that, ita all about Harmony

Played his part today in a good defensive performance but we need another captain.

I think it's harsh to put the blame on Ben for their goal. It was a 2 on 2 break with Vardy making a run in the opposite direction.

He's a limited footballer that normally gives you everything he has.

He did the putting his head in where it hurts brilliantly but isn't quick enough to deal with a lot of these premier league players.
He can't give us what he hasn't got.

At fault for goal with his non tackle but recovered to organise our comeback.

Without his mistakes this season we d have about 9 more points. There again without his headers we’d be in the bottom 3

He could do without the captaincy that’s for sure

Caught for pace once on his side when he should have done more, found he didn't have the pace to cover Bardsley on another occasion. Other than that, pretty solid against a terrific counter-attacking team who have been making defences look short on pace for fun this season.

I must be a nob then!
Mee was caught out for pace today and was poor in the air on a number of occasions.
Might need a breather.
Not suggesting anything other than looking a little out of sorts atm.

Ben Mee was good today.

Barnes had the run on him for the goal and he was unlucky with the pen and just got done by a bit of pace. To say he was a liability is ridiculous, in my opinion.

There's nobody I would rather have at the heart of our defence when we are holding on for the points. Warrior!

Was caught out flat footed for the first today... yet again. Gave away a penalty because he was caught out of position yet again. Is almost as slow as Jutkiewisz, can’t carry or pass the ball over 10 yards. Terrible player.

I’ve said for a long time how poor he is. Great at tackling no issues with that but seriously can’t pass a ball and caught flat footed too often

Has been very good again this season, immense in some games, made a couple of mistakes today, but also did some very good defensive work and absolutely towering header that lead to the goal.

Some good some bad from him today. Op is a balloon though at fault for the first goal.... What where Cork was caught on the ball and had 2 players running at him?? Yeah he was done for pace twice today he has never been a fast player, positioning and ability to read the game usually means he doesn't need it. He has played a missive part in our rise from relegation favourites in the championship to a premier league team. He has his moments like most players but you get a 7/8 out of 10 from him more often than not. I'm guessing he is captain because he is constantly talking and organizing the people around him however he did improve last season when Heaton came back.

Re: Ben Mee

An odd one. So much of our poor football comes from having him at centre back because of how bad he is on the ball, and how he often panics and just hoofs. He's also quite a poor defender when facing players running at him and between the lines. But he does bring battling qualities to the table, and is quite good at dealing with things in the air and things in behind.

But it's all academic as he'll never be dropped because Dyche doesn't want to, and doesn't fancy Gibson anyway.

Does need replacing though next season for me.

He wasn't taking any risks with his positioning marking Vardy but still found himself beaten by him from a through pass in the first half. Vardy made a good three or four yards on him before Mee even turned because he was too slow to react. I know Vardy is lightning quick but it was sloppy and you don't expect that from a PL centre half. He wasn't alone in that kind of sloppiness in the first half, though. Clumsiness for the pen aside, he did a decent job when he and the rest of the team finally decided to concentrate. He shouldn't be dropped. Hopefully we're finally coming out of a period of bad form and he'll recover his steel.

I suppose it's fair enough, though big headed, to think you're a better judge of a footballer than Sean Dyche is. Maybe it's true, But to claim that you are so obviously a better judge that it can be only cowardice that stops him agreeing with you? That carries arrogance to surely unprecedented levels. I didn't think it was possible to be that self-confident. I'm impressed, in a back handed way.

So you believe Ben Mee has been in that good a form , hes never once been below par enough for Ben Gibson to be given a chance?

So either
A. You dont attend games and haven't see Ben Mre have a dip in form
B. You lack football knowledge

Either way I respect your opinion.
Youd be hard pressed to find a fan that thinks either

A Ben Mee has been in far to greater form to be dropped
B. Ben Gibson hasnt deserved a chance in the side.
