Apologies for quality, it’s a copy from a copy, but you can see that Praets foot has already past the ball. So he never played it at all. It was his slide through Cork that left Cork playing it away.

The problem is we have such a high expectation of referees which seem to me beyond realistic. We expect them to decide instantly on fouls and cheating when the pace of the game is so fast. It's just not possible. I've said it before but to me it's quite remarkable how much they get right.

We should accept this, that football is a sport and not an exact science. Ditch VAR and let the referee have full control for better or worse. Then we can enjoy the game better.
Spot on and when you add to it the fact that opposing fans rarely agree on the contentious decisions then refs really dont have a chance

It was his trailing foot that played the ball. Still a foul though.

That same tackle will have been given as a foul, or not, in every game this weekend. Only difference is ours (or theirs, depending on your POV) lead to a goal, a goal which didn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.
So, refs still make mistakes, that wasn't a clear and obvious mistake, carry on as you were, no?

Impossible for his trailing foot to play the ball without going through Jack’s standing leg. So a foul.

It was a foul, Dermot Gallagher toes the line and wouldn’t ever go against his paymasters. Didn’t even get a mention on MOTD 2 in the analysis. Wanged on about Ben Mees handball though. It’s all ********.

I agree it was a foul, Cork's standing leg was in the air after Praet's front foot had already gone through it.

Thanks for this.
So pretty daft for an ex top level referee to suggest Mee should have been sent off then given I’m not sure a single one of the criteria was met ?
Do you know of any examples where there has been a sending off in the area where it was not a player saving the ball from going in with his hand ?
I’m struggling to think of any and you would think there are some examples of the criteria being met.
David Luiz has just been sent off in this situation.
