Me Dad went, he's still got the program somewhere. Went to the 63 one as well so if we get there this year he's banned; obviously carries bad luck with him :D

:D fat fingered two hat here. 62 of course, he also has a program from a visit to Old Trafford just a couple of weeks before the Munich crash, with the names annotated for those who made it and those who didn't.

I don’t think that he was born until 1952.

My (late) Dad went to the '47 and the '62. The former with my Grandad. He actually flew to the '62 final with my uncle as apparently there was special plane put on (I believe)

My dad went, on leave from the Airforce mopping up after WW2 in Egypt and Italy.

He's still going, the bugger, at 92. :D

He also went to the '62 final, without me, despite me having been to all the previous rounds, including the semi final at Villa Park vs Fulham.

I was there but couldn’t see a thing. Was born 2 months after the final. Might have been born prematurely at the final had we won !!! Went in 62 as well

FCBurnley, I'm just trying to recall whether we we went together on the train to Wembley 62?, but can't remember. I'd a quick chat, before the game ysday with your old next door neighbour. Like me his joints are buggered.

I was at the 1962 final with my dad. He was also at the 1947 final just five months before he married my mum.

I remember Steven Edwards and Jim being there. We certainly went on the train but can’t remember who else was with us. Glad to say my joints are still ok but not sure about my brain or memory!!!

I was born the day after the 1947 FA Cup final (27-04-1947). My dad, who had a ticket, couldn’t go because of my arrival into the world and I don’t think he ever forgave me for spoiling what would have been a special day out. He had been to every other round of the cup but missed out on the big one.
I went with Mum and Dad in 62, then to the Sherpa Van Final and both our play off wins, so I can’t complain.

I didn't go. Only 6 months old then. But at the Championship winning match four years ago at Charlton. I had some fish and chips and happened to sit with a local family, father son and grandfather. The grandfather had been to the 1947 game and I had a really interesting time talking about that match and how Charlton were one of the strongest teams in the 1950s.

I remember Sam Bartram playing at the Turf but my first game was in 1950-51 season but my Dad went to that Final when according to him we wasted a few good chances and should have won. He maintains that Duffy's goal was a cross that went rogue

My dad went. In about 1966 ish I started collecting programs and he came down stairs with the 47 final program and ticket, "Do you want these for your collection?" ......................YES!!! :D Later, around 1970 swapped them for my school mate Paul Sava`s sisters motown collection. Recently the program & ticket have gone for over £600 on ebay

Regarding the 62 final, I was 6 and the family, uncles aunties cousins etc, all went on a coach to London, the husbands went to the cup final and the wives/kids went shopping.
Dad, what were you thinking????????

Listened to the 1947 cup final on the radio. If I remember correctly Burnley had quite a few chances to win, commentators were Allan Clarke and Raymond Glendenning. Charlton had been beaten four or five one the year before by Derby County.

There’s a number of films on YouTube of the final.
Tickets I believe were hard to come by in Burnley but fans still travelled down in their thousands to follow Cliff Brittons Team. There’s a clip of it in the Bob Lord Film I ‘borrowed’.
