Surprising football statistics

Post by aggi » Tue Jan 21, 2020 11:31 am

Sometimes you just see a stat, like the Traore having more dribbles than the whole Burnley team a few years ago one, that surprises you.

A few I've come across recently:

Callum Wilson at Bournemouth hasn't had a shot on target in the past 15 games.

Phil Bardsley has never received a straight red card in his career.

Jack Grealish has won 46 50:50s this season. Ashley Westwood has won 4.

Oh Boss. The plural of typo is typos - typo's denotes ownership. Snigger snigger.

Cue Boss saying 'I was just testing'.

To be honest though Boss I'd say that people who pick up on these things are sad. Oh, hang on a minit. ;)

I don't believe Grealish has won any 50-50s. He might have won a lot of free kicks by jumping out of the way of 50-50s and bursting into tears.

Accordion to a recent survey, replacing words with the names of musical instruments in a sentence often goes undetected.

PNE have now played more League games than anyone else. was Notts County until they went out of the league

This also means that they have the worst ever fans. Because some of their fans have missed more league games than any other club.

They have also spent more years in 24 team divisions and none in the 20 team Premier League

Burnley have failed to score, in the first half in their last 11 premier league games.

We've played the fewest triangle pass moves of anyone in the league this season.

(That's a low key one.)

Andy Payton scored the first goal across the top 4 Divisions in the 1990's,( the first in Hull's 3-2 win over Sunderland, early k.o. on New Year's Day 1990 ) and also scored the last goal of the 1990's, ( a 90th minute winner in a 3-2 win over Oxford Utd, 28th December 1999 ... It was the day Jimmy McIlroy opened " his " stand, a combination of a slightly delayed k.o. & stoppages meant that was the last league goal of the 1990's ) ...

Jonjo Shelvey is Newcastle’s top scorer this season. He has at least twice as many Premier League goals as any teammate.

Man Utd, Chelsea and Spurs have all won in the same round of Premier League games just once this season, back in September.

When Hartlepool beat Notts County 2-1 in 2013 the goalscorers were Hartley and Poole.

We have had a Lee, have ever had a Burn? Even a Brun would be acceptable!
