Re: Result of the season
After our second went in, that has to rank as the longest 40 minutes of my life.
Almost contemplated turning the game off.
As the kids say, unbelievable scenes.
What a performance. This is the Burnley we know.

Re: Result of the season
and deserved to boot, no smash and grab - a triumph for organisation ! And what a strike from Jay-Rod, if that's at the other end the media would be wanking over it
Re: Result of the season
Suppose we win at Anfield? Where will this rank then?
Bring on Arsenal. They have had so much luck against us its time it turned.

Re: Result of the season
Also one of the best allround performance since long.
Re: Result of the season
Couldn't believe it.
Even when we went 1-0 up and even 2-0 thought United
would do to us what they a did a few seasons back.
But we held on and there's no one in the country happier than Claret fans!
Absolutely brilliant!
No idea how we do it given performances before Leicester were abject?
As they say 'Long may it continue.'

And to be fair Dixie, Paul Scholes is probably right. 'Little old Burnley' ruffling the feathers of one of the premier league elite clubs. Makes this result even more special.Dixie Normous wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 10:22 pmPaul Scholes just made my night with the inevitable “we shouldn’t be losing to a team like Burnley “

Loved watching Utd fans leaving in droves 15 mins from the end. Not many of them complaining about our performance.

Not the moaners who moan about everything to do with the club manager, playing style, individual players, Rigg, potential signings, only having one tier on the Bob lord, the cricket field stand, price of twix bars, another post match ruined for them.

Bournemouth and Villa both pick up vital results yesterday against similarly placed sides, and then we go and do that. Heartwarming knowing our rivals will be despairing of tonight

Re: Result of the season
The last two games have been excellent (especially last night - who doesn't love winning at OT) but for me the result of the season will be if we beat the cheating Gooners. They are the only 'big six' club we have never beaten in the PL era and that because of the cheating and sheer bad luck of all the late goals. I have come to hate Arsenal in the last few years and if we can beat them I will celebrate more than last night.

To be fair to Scholes, he’s just the Pat Crerand for this generation of Man Utd fans. He’s completely one-eyed when it comes to his old Team.

Re: Result of the season
The entitlement culture is unbelivable, they shouldn't be losing to teams like Bournemouth,Watford or Newcastle either but they did,i'm not convinced Manure will even gain a EL spot this season,i can see Tottenham and Wolves overtaking them soon, and even Sheff Utd,Southampton, and the rest of the chasing pack may fancy themselves to finish above United.Dixie Normous wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2020 10:22 pmPaul Scholes just made my night with the inevitable “we shouldn’t be losing to a team like Burnley “

Living in bury and having worked in manchester for 35 years plus having a brother and father that are united season ticketholders this result will never be bettered for me even if we beat liverpool. I went to bed when i got in after the match but had to get up again because i was still buzzing and my son has bragging rights over his uncle and grandad for the first time ever and dont intend letting this feeling go for a long time.

Re: Result of the season
Reading some stuff in the media today I'm sick to death of hearing how 'bad' United were. You would think they had just lost an FA Cup tie to Bognor Regis Rovers they way they are going on. We are a PL team and although not the best in the division we are where we are and they have no divine right to beat anyone. One of the worst phrases in football, when said by ANYONE is 'they shouldn'tr be losing to the likes of...' It smacks of unbelievable arrogance and flies in the face of what football is about. When we got beat by Wimbledon, and more recently by Lincoln (or even Stanley) not too many Burnley fans came out with that, thankfully.
The 'entitlement culture' these days is breeding a kind of fan I never, at one time, believed could exist. And it has now extended into the media.

Totally agree even just glancing at the BBC website, there's 2 articles about how Ole's days are numbered, and how bad United were, absolutely no credit to Burnley whatsoever, this sums up how we are viewed by the media,we're seen as an interloper in the PL,and many pundits have openly stated the Likes of Forest,Leeds and Sunderland to name just 3,are more deserving of a PL place due to their huge support and their perception by the press as being a "big" club.houseboy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:52 pmReading some stuff in the media today I'm sick to death of hearing how 'bad' United were. The real result was Burnley in the first game on MOTD. First time since 1972
Re: Result of the season
We are the team who has broken Manchester Utd, according to every person on the radio today, who has been pulling MU apart limb by limb.
Do they not understand how tough we are?

Re: Result of the season
It didn't shock me because as far as MotD were concerned it was a United match. If you check out the online versions of the papers it is usually very difficult to find a report on a Burnley game, they are usually hidden away somewhere, but not on Thursday. Oh no, because it was United. One report even spent about 25% of the article commenting about how poor Martial was.HunterST_BFC wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 11:15 pmThe real result was Burnley in the first game on MOTD. Re: Result of the season
Back in the day, being a ‘big club’ meant a lot because the gate receipt gave them the most money to buy the best players. These days, gate money in the Prem is a small percentage of income, so the ‘size’ of the club is less relevant. Generally, teams are at the level their play dictates so ‘big’ clubs like Leeds and Forest are in the Championship, and Sunderland are in League 1. For their supporters to opine that they should all be playing in the Prem at the expense of clubs like Burnley, shows a measure of arrogance that makes their current positions even funnier.tiger76 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 10:51 pmTotally agree even just glancing at the BBC website, there's 2 articles about how Ole's days are numbered, and how bad United were, absolutely no credit to Burnley whatsoever, this sums up how we are viewed by the media,we're seen as an interloper in the PL,and many pundits have openly stated the Likes of Forest,Leeds and Sunderland to name just 3,are more deserving of a PL place due to their huge support and their perception by the press as being a "big" club.
