Just tweeted Wells is being recalled,we must be putting him in a deal to sign someone any ideas?

I suspect we're just preparing to sell him and get a bit of money back on him before his contract runs out in the summer, assuming Nixon is correct

Does it run out in the summer? Thought we have the option of extending it by another year?

I saw today Forest are ready to bid, there’s a few after him.

Or keeping him as back up given Ashley Barnes is out for some time and an injury to Wood or Rodders would leave us with just Vydra and Wood or Rodders

I was under the impression it just ran out, because on the squad list on this website it says his contract ends 2020, instead of 2020+ like some of the others do. That's all I'm going off though so could be wrong

We have a years option, that's why there will be a bidding war and we could even turn a profit.

You would have thought the extension only activated after so many appearances. Bit harsh if he wants out

Why the hell would we want to extend his contract for another year. He's going this summer if not before and if we get some cash for him this window then happy days

Re: Nixon

Because if we were to sell him this summer wed get a fee for him

Re: Nixon

By having the hold of an extension there will be a bigger transfer fee expected so that we can pay him the difference for just 6 months in his Burnley salary and what he will get in the Championship. He could play hardball and stay until the summer and walk for free.
Personally it is a big risk letting him go with only Vydra as back up unless SD sees anyone in the under 23's being able to play up front

But then we would have to excercise that extension to be able to sell him-and he will still be on Prem wages assuming we stay up. He could then just stay as unlikely to get a Prem salary in the Championship

The correct decision no matter the reason, he’s sharp and match fit after the loan so is an asset to us to either free up funds for incomings or to play a role in the team.

Sadly, I think this may well be the case. Don’t see a future for Vydra here. Don’t know why, but that much is evident.

Sensible move bringing in back up, even if it is our own player.

Don't take much notice of the championship are QPR challengers for the play offs or are they in relegation trouble?

If we could get our money back on him it would be a remarkable bit of business, in spite of all of his goals this season.

A strange signing all round.

That said I would rather recall him than sell him if we aren't going to reinvest the money.

If we're dealing with Bristol Titty and they're actually serious about it, then we should be looking at that guy Elliason as well as Brownhill. IMO he COULD be the next JBG and that would allow us to let Lennon move on in the summer, probably Brady too and possibly even, (sadly) injury jinxed JBG himself.

He must be some player if his signing would allow us to let 3 players leave

Unlikely. Given what Dyche said last week he’s only likely to be recalled should we want to sell him.

:D :D :D Well maybe I was a little carried away, but personally I can't see even a medium term future for Lennon if we can stay up this season and I'm still waiting to be convinced that Brady is anything other than a very decent (and expensive!) Championship player. JBG I happen to love (not in THAT way, you understand) but I'm increasingly frustrated by his lack of fitness and how we can't get a meaningful run of games out of him. (Sadly)

Give them wells and £10 million for eliasson and Brownhill. Not a bad deal, Brownhill one of the best Cm in the championship to challenge Westwood and cork and eliasson to grow into a very good player.

Which is what Burnley announced when we signed him. No suggestion then of a year option. That’s just emerged recently in the media but never confirmed by the club.

To be fair CT, it's not been denied either.

Nothing to be inferred there though.

I wouldn’t expect the club to comment on it but, likewise, the info on my squad list regarding contracts is what the club publish at the time.

The last few days of rumours stated that Bristol City wanted Wells and that we had gone ahead in the race for Brownhill as that deal would be player and cash, which suited Bristol City.

Wells was open to it. I think Brownhill is ok with Burnley.

Excellent business all round for all parties.

It'll be a blow to a few on here if we end up making a profit on Wells.

Just down to Vydra and Gibson then on the 'WHat aBOUt thE mONey wE WaSTeD ON...' posts. That's if you're one of those people who think a Premier League club should be fine with a squad of 11 players.

2 loan fees, contributions to his wages during those loans and a profit on his fee would be highly amusing considering the guff posted about his signing.

Aye, when you throw in the 66 minutes of football we got from him as well, it looks like a masterstroke. If only all our signings could be so successful.

I know, if only we had successful signings in the squad. Why can't we be like the other 19 clubs in the division who have a squad where everyone makes a contribution, especially those who sign for 5m. I mean not one club will have a player who has cost more than that, be paid more than he is and not featured.
