Crying woman at the Orient game
We've all seen the film.
Was the woman crying at the end just a random fan or connected to the Board of the time in any way?
Always brings a lump to my throat when I see that moment and often wonder who she was and does she still go on now we are in what must have seemed back then to be the Promised Land?

Re: Crying woman at the Orient game
I believe she was still a regular last time it was discussed someone will know no doubt ...
I didn't shed any tears but I remember literally feeling sick after the away games at Scunthorpe and Crewe ..I only missed a handful of away games that season and saw all the home games during those seven years in the basement ..for me the Orient game was surreal more than anything else ...we suddenly had such a big gate after months of thinking 3000 was a bonus ...
It seems a long time ago now thankfully

Re: Crying woman at the Orient game
I've seen a documentary style programme/film not too long ago about our near disastrous day, with an
update that featured, inter alia, an interview with said lady.
I'm off out now for a while, but will have a look for it online when I return.
Take care peeps.
EDIT :- Bugger, beat me to it Quoon. I thought her name was Joyce tbh. I'll still have a
look later for the video though.

She was a landlady at the time, couple of the players lived at her house.

No matter it’s the landlady or the women who washes the kits, it’s always Joyce for some reason.

She was at the 30 year anniversary dinner a few years back she had some interesting tales of being a landlady to the younger players like a load of police waking her up looking for Peter Leebrook!

Re: Crying woman at the Orient game
that season was very stressful.
I went to every game home and away.
Although that picture is iconic I do prefer the one of the fat lass from Preston crying!

A sign of the fashion of the time that she was in her 30s.

Re: Crying woman at the Orient game
Was it very fashionable to be in your 30s in the 80s?
I didn't manage it but then again I've never been fashionable.
