Robbie Brady
I hope this is the last we see of him starting a game for Burnley FC.
Lacks the mentality, imo, to be a proper player.
Far too casual and reactive to situations on the pitch rather than having a sense of urgency, to be frank he does my ******* nut in.
I understand that he had a bad injury but let's not kid ourselves, he had a run of about 4 games where he looked decent... Apart from that he's looked every part a lower championship footballer.

Re: Robbie Brady
He’s a player that probably needs a run of games to get any sort of confidence and form back.
The problem is he’s been so poor when he’s played we can’t give him that.

Re: Robbie Brady
Long way back to regular Premier League football for him.
Not sure when his contract is up, but i suspect his next stop is the Championship.
Looks miles off the standard every time he plays now.

He was poor again. Probably benefit from a spell out on loan to get him back to what he was before his injury and set him up for next season.

needs to go on loan somewhere and have a few games, then we can all call him world class and question why he isn't being picked

Re: Robbie Brady
He’s not good enough. I have sympathy that he had a bad injury, but he should be over that mentally by now if he has any designs on making it at Burnley - and he isn’t. His lack of confidence in his body is clear. Time to get rid but I fear having cost us £13m and surely with massive wages we will really struggle to sell him.
No thread for Matej Vydra looking every inch a Championship player for about the 20th time in a row, though? Can we let the myth surrounding this chap dissipate now and just accept he was an awful signing and that the reason he doesn’t play is because Dyche can clearly tell he’s not good enough? Oh but “what do you expect him to do with these small cameos”? More than he has ever shown, that’s what.

Re: Robbie Brady
When is his contract up?
Re: Robbie Brady
Depends what people define as Premier league quality.
I suspect players like Ashley Barnes would look completely out of his depth in a team that plays a different system, and maybe even the likes of Jeff Hendrick, but they work perfectly in our method of play.
I think they same would go for many of Sheffield united's players. Perhaps Brady isjust better suited to a different style of play, likewise Vydra.

Think we signed him 3 years ago on deadline day this window, so I’m going to hazard a guess he has a year left after this.

He needs a fresh start at a lower level. That injury has finished him as a player at the top level unfortunately.
Re: Robbie Brady
Pretty sure it's up this summer. Probably for the best, he needs a fresh start somewhere else.

Re: Robbie Brady
I like his work rate and he got involved today. But his delivery was lacking and he continually fails to complete simple passes. Very frustrating to watch.
People can talk about lack of game time but these players play football about 5 time’s a week and should be able to do the basics when called upon.

Have to agree with the consensus.on this one. Needs time and space.to operate and he won't find much of that in this league. One of a few on show today who are no threat to existing first choice players which highlights the lack of depth in our squad.

Re: Robbie Brady
Totally agree with that. I don't think he's played successive games in a long time, maybe since he came back from the long term injury. Admittedly very poor again today although he was the one having all the shots at goal in the first half.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2020 5:36 pmHe’s a player that probably needs a run of games to get any sort of confidence and form back.

Shame as he was really looking like a good signing until that injury at Leicester. He's finished as a top flight player sadly

Re: Robbie Brady
Much as I like Robbie, I think we’ve seen the best of him now. He was still our main outlet in the first half but lacked the confidence and class of old. Perhaps a rest and a cracking pre-season will get him back on track
Re: Robbie Brady
The one thing I really think he doesn’t need or we don’t need is a run of games. I think he is rank bad poor and needs moving on.

Re: Robbie Brady
According to the player info on this site, his contract is up in 2020 with the club having an option of a year extension. From here it's difficult to see the club taking the option on the extra year.
It's a bit sad, he did get into a good spell for us (I'm particularly thinking of the 2-1 win at Bournemouth when he made one & scored one) but he's too far down the pecking order now to get much game time and have an opportunity to get form back.
He needs regular game time somewhere soon.

Will the Irish lads get new contracts over here with Brexit?
Or are they better off all moving before the deadline?

Norwich must have been laughing at two things yesterday, - the result and R.Brady's performance. They sold us a donkey. A very expensive donkey.

Re: Robbie Brady
We've had posters have a pop regarding our players in the past (I had the brunt of it with Wood and Taylor after suggesting we sign them), but all players have had dips in form.
Brady still has the time to come back and be a top player for us.

OK, stats don't tell the full story, I'll be the first to admit that...
However, this really is a poor return & yes a lot of those are from substitute appearances but the point still stands.

Re: Robbie Brady
If he needs to build up his confidence, I hope he doesn’t read this forum. I understand that players are open to criticism, but some of these comments are over the top.
Some of you need to get some perspective, I realise you support the club, but it’s football, on any given match day we will win, lose or draw. We’ve just had two massive wins and have now lost an FA cup tie. Not a disaster.
Personally, if you want to win the match, play your strongest 11. We didn’t. We saved some of our key players.

Re: Robbie Brady
He had hit his best form in concert with Burnley`s (our best ever in the Premier League?) when his injury occurred. He had a lovely Irish understanding with Hendrick and Ward. I still maintain the thought that his injury was self-inflicted...as it happened it stood out a mile to me. He had lost control of the ball and in frustration over-stretched and `lashed out` at the ball and I believe Maguire (not a criticism as it happens in the heat of battle in sport). It`s a real shame. I had a bad fracture of my left wrist last year and am still reticent to `use` it so what the hell a professional footballer goes through in his head when it`s a knee I cannot imagine. That`s why i believe people should lay off with their criticism.
Good luck to him. He was an invaluable member of our team.

He actually started the game pretty well yesterday - couple of decent runs, passes and 2 not bad efforts on goal.
After first 20 mins though he was back to type - losing the ball, flicks not coming off, losing his man etc.
It’s a signing that has just not worked out - the injury obviously a big impact.
We need to move on now - very unlikely he will turn it round here or anywhere else now. I don’t think he has been treated unfairly by the fans who go to the games - players who have done far more for the club (and cost a lot less) have had a much tougher time from the boo boys (Elliot, Jones, Boyd, Arfield for example)

Quite a few of our players were at their best in that 2017-18 season until the run in in 2018. Strange that was when Defour was running things in mid-field

Jeff has a vastly different role in the team when played.
https://www.football365.com/news/forens ... f-hendrick
That article shows how important his role was when deployed as a faux #10...
As a right sided midfielder? He is brilliant out of possession & doesn't stop running, does a lot of donkey room.

He had and still does get support at the Turf (encouragement when he's warming up to come etc) he's also probably on £30K a week (perhaps more) and has been consistently dross bar about 4 games, that's why he's not immune to criticism.HiroshimaClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 9:48 amThat`s why i believe people should lay off with their criticism.

People chirp on about his contribution during the 17/18 season, he played 15 games and scored one goal. Yes we slumped when he got injured but what really ignited us and got us into the 7th spot was the Chris Wood & Ashley Barnes partnership, when we won 5 on the spin.
