What did I miss - club for sale
Heard Paul Weller after the game day there are rumours the club is up for sale.
I haven’t heard about this before or read anything in here- what have I missed?

Re: What did I miss - club for sale

I think every club is up for sale, at the right price.

Re: What did I miss - club for sale
My understanding is that we have always been open to investors as long as the present incumbents feel that it is in the best interests of the club.
Re: What did I miss - club for sale
Garlick has said in the past that there have been enquiries about the club
Re: What did I miss - club for sale
Is it not common knowledge?
I'm unaware of any business that wants to keep posting huge profits other than for sale purposes.
It makes zero sense to do so, it helps you get top dollar.
No one buys a business that makes little or no money...

Well we've all heard that. The OP suggests it's more imminent.

he did say that, but I think he was just talking about rumours and obvious speculation given our unwillingness to spend. he did say why bother employing sean dyche if they refuse to back him

Given our current position, couldn't see any "investor" coming in at this moment in time
If we secure Prem League again at the end of the season then things may change in the summer

I’d expect an investor would see a better price in buying now than when later when/if we are safe in the league- probably to the tune for 10’s of millions.

Re: What did I miss - club for sale
So in summary, there are no rumours?
Re: What did I miss - club for sale
And these business men ( because let's be honest that's what they are first and foremost) stand to make more overnight than they have in 2 decades of business.
I must be a different type of fan to the ones on our board, as I'd be doing everything possible to establish this team, win a cup and build the best team possible.
Sadly our board see profits as the aim of the game, which conveniently dovetails into point number 1...

Try this for a concept - it is possible that two people have the same aims but have different ways of trying to achieve it.MACCA wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 12:05 amAnd these business men ( because let's be honest that's what they are first and foremost) stand to make more overnight than they have in 2 decades of business.

You have your own idea of how to do the best for Burnley FC and you are assuming that anyone who has a different approach, by definition, does not want the best for Burnley FC. And while it is nice to believe that you, and you alone, have all the answers - is it really true?
Re: What did I miss - club for sale
Or for building up reserves in the knowledge that at some point in the future revenue will drop by 80% or so.
(On a separate note, loads of businesses making little or no money get bought.)

Re: What did I miss - club for sale
I would find that extremely disappointing, as in all likelihood be for an image wash - I don't want anybody to be reckless with our club - too many in our town are dependent on it for that to be right and I do not mean emotionally which would be bad enough

Lets hope any new owner or investor is a dwarf who gives interviews on a little trampoline, imagine sky trying to air an interview with him or reporting on transfer dead line day.

Re: What did I miss - club for sale
The club is obviously either for sale or looking for investment. You don’t post books like those year in year out for ego, you post them because the club needs to be in its most attractive state to go to market!
I’d say we will be gone in summer 2020 to a new owner. I’d suggest it’ll be an American investment that already has investment strategies in Lancashire.

I’ve heard a rumour that there is something happening.
Always makesMe laugh on here when foreign investment is mentioned. People immediately cite Portsmouth or Rovers and totally disregard the multiple success stories regarding foreign investment.

Re: What did I miss - club for sale
There is that, but only time will tell.
Many people will have various opinions of what's happening/will happen .
There is many a time I wish my opinion or knowledge was wrong, and although theres many that wont like it, sadly sometimes I'm right
Re: What did I miss - club for sale
There are also loads of businesses that make profits every year with no intention to sell. Probably the vast majority of successful businesses, in fact.

Re: What did I miss - club for sale
There was I thinking that accounts had to be published, irrespective of any potential sale.
Re: What did I miss - club for sale
You mean the same regime who appointed Dyche ?
We have got nothing to thank them for ?
Not even the training ground ?
Not taking a penny in dividends whilst the club received more than £400m in income ?
Not getting the club into any debt ?
So your preference is what ? That they run the club at losses and that we were in debt to the owners to the tune of £150m like Blackburn ?
What do you think Barry Kilby would have done differently to the current owners ?
Lots of questions there - Most of them are rhetorical !!
