Players and Social Media
https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... dia-fa-cup
Quite an interesting read. Parker says the first thing some players do when they get back in the changing rooms is fire up their mobiles and Twitter to read instant “feedback”.
I have an inkling it affects our players too- it must do. It’s like kids these days can’t avoid bullying just because the school bell has gone. They get it 24/7. I personally would just come off it.

Re: Players and Social Media
...and if it's positive?
See. There's the problem with your point
Also, digital bullying? You absolute snowflake. These are grown men, highly trained professional athletes. Their biggest critic will be themselves. They'll know when they've done ****, they'll be told by the gaffer and how to improve.
What a load of crap you're talking

Re: Players and Social Media
They come on message boards as well, trust me.
Re: Players and Social Media
Interesting article, a lot of stuff from the Sean Dyche way of thinking, talking of core values and self drive.
Re: Players and Social Media
Perhaps Rob Green should avoid rhe media too...
Manchester City 0-0 Fulham
Rob Green
Former West Ham and England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live
It's a huge moment in the game. It's a simple ball but it's a clever dummy that sets Gabriel Jesus through. Tim Ream has got the wrong side, I think it's a red because there's no attempt to ball the play.
Wtf is "Ball the play"

Re: Players and Social Media
If a player needs to be told on social media that he or she has had a good or bad game then there is no hope for them

Re: Players and Social Media
Based on the policies/rules we know the club have, such as no earphones off the bus, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a “no phone 1hr before/after the game” rule.

I implied getting abuse not just on match day was like how children are bullied outside school hours these days but 24/7 via the internet.tarkys_ears wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 2:47 pmNo, you were inferring that it was the same thing when footballers read social media

Re: Players and Social Media
I was listening to Clarke Carlisle on the Undr The Cosh podcast a few weeks ago and he mentioned how he would check the paper the morning after a game to see his rating and if it was a bad one he’d feel rubbish all week about it.
Was also interesting how he said it affected him massively when he thought he’d had a poor game/great game but the rating was completely against how he felt. It made him either think “am I that bad then? That a great game for me is still naff” or “well, I played naff but still got a great rating so I don’t have to work as hard after all”
