Kobe Bryant allegedly dies
In a helicopter crash.
I know nothing of NBA but a big name in the sport and I imagine people have heard of him who never watch NBA.
IF this is true (according to TMZ)

One of the all time greats in the NBA, incredibly sad news. This will be a shock to all Americans and to all basketball fans worldwide.

I have absolutely no interest in NBA but even someone as clueless as me knows that Kobe Bryant is a legend, for basketball fans this is probably the equivalent of Messi or Ronaldo dying. What a shame, after seeing the high profile crashes of late there's not a chance I'm ever getting on a helicopter. RIP

Re: Kobe Bryant allegedly dies
Yes just seen this breaking story, terrible tragedy for all involved, according to initial reports all 5 people aboard the craft have died,i don't follow American sport that much, but Kobe Bryant was someone who transcended basketball, and he was a worldwide icon, even for people who aren't followers of the game his name is instantly recognisable.
RIP Kobe
RIP Kobe

Absolutely. The only advice I ever constantly heeded from my dad...
Was actually on about it this week at work. And someone I work with said exact same thing.

Why do you get in a car then considering all the car crashes?

Well, if your car engine cuts out, its not quite as critical is it?deanothedino wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 8:46 pmTranscended his sport in a way not many do. RIP.

It doesn't necessarily cause you to crash as you can autorotate.ZizkovClaret wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2020 9:03 pmWell, if your car engine cuts out, its not quite as critical is it?

on a side note, I used to do some work for an agency over here that was tasked with collating information on worldwide aviation incidents, the amount of helicopters that fall out of the sky on a seemingly daily basis is frightening - you couldn't pay me to get on one

Some weird views on here. Whatever your thoughts Kobe was a sporting great but more importantly he was a father of 4 girls one of whom sadly died with her father plus 6 unnamed passengers and the pilot. RIP to them all and condolences to the families

Whilst I've heard his name once or twice, I hadn't the foggiest who
he actually was or did. Thought he was one of these celebrities
famous for being famous. Or an actor.
Any road, RIP

Re: Kobe Bryant allegedly dies
Bizzarely enough I always enjoyed flying about in Helicopters and never thought about crashing.
I have been in quite a few and in different climates from jungle to arctic but always trusted the Army or RAF pilots.
When something happens it really can have devestating consequences as is the case here.
Don't follow the NBA but I do know Kobe was a legend and so tragic his daughter has died along with the other 7 on the aircraft.
