As Trigger would say "This old football stadium has only had 4 new stands and one new pitch, Dave".

Bob on Cf ...... that would be my thoughts tooClaretforever wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 5:46 pmFWIW, to ClaretTony and Sausage, there was a debate on a Facebook group a while ago before Spurs ground was completed, and many different opinions were put forward.
The consensus seemed to be that if the entire ground was done at the same time, especially when the club had to move out for a time while work was carried out, it’s a new ground.
If the club do the work piece meal over a number of years, like most clubs who do the work over decades, it’s the old ground redeveloped.
So in that case Wolves would be the original regardless of the expanded footprint, but Spurs is a new ground regardless of it overlapping the old footprint, and Bournemouth is a new ground too, what with it all being flattened and rebuilt.
Just an opinion though, but one which seemed to get a lot of agreement.

Deepdale isn't a new stadium because PNE don't refer to it as a new stadium, whereas Dean Court is a new stadium because AFCB say so.
If you find this explanation deeply unsatisfying, CT will be along in a moment to set you straight.

I think Bournemouth is are the only club where I have a 100% burnley away win record on two different grounds. The only time I went to the old ground we won away for the first time in about a year.
Maidstone who we played at Dartford Wartling Street ground has gone.
York Street boston is going at the end of the season. Love that ground.

What's the difference between a stadium and a ground?

I have been to Highbury a couple of times, once with school as part of a school football team trip to London in 1979. We got the full ground tour. The second time around 1985 to watch Arsenal beat Liverpool 3-1 with 51,000 on. I agree it was a great ground.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 1:39 pmI really liked Highbury but you haven’t missed much with the others.

Had something about it that other grounds didn’t. The main stand still has the marble hall with the cannon on the floor and the bust of Herbert Chapman. Got in there before our cup tie at Arsenal in 2016.ten bellies wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 12:31 pmI have been to Highbury a couple of times, once with school as part of a school football team trip to London in 1979. Or Bloomfield road? Bloomfield road has slightly moved footprint with the redevelopment, therefore according to CT is a completely different ground. Same can Be said for molineux.
Also what about Bramall Lane? Footprint changed when the cricket ground went.

Not according to me at all - according to Bournemouth who demolished the old Dean Court, went off to play at a non-league ground while a completely new ground was built. Same can't be said for Molineux or Bloomfield Road and very definitely not Bramall Lane where all they did was build a stand over the cricket square, keep the other three stands and played on the same pitch.thelaughingclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 2:15 pmOr Bloomfield road? As for spijed's comment on Preston? They don't become new grounds because they build new stands.

No mention yet of Watling Street, Dartford.
I remember we played Maidstone there in the fourth division (can't tick off my list, as didn't get in and seem to recall drinking warm cans on a grass banking across road)
