Atmosphere and new chants
First time poster (after many years of reaching with interest), so please be gentle.
Going to watch the clarets used to be unique, everyone together as one and encouraging new and humourous chants, many of which took off, much to the delight of the creator and the rest.
These days, we tend to put down any originality or attempts, which is a shame as I believe we have some of the wittiest folk in the country in these northern hills.
Anyway, here's my two penneth, to the Only Fools & Horses theme tune, and accompanied by a rhythmic clap throughout (and can be started by one loud sod shouting out the first line)....
Oh what it’s like to be a claret
We got super Sean Dyche at the helm
Cos if you want the best ‘uns
Burnley’s your obsession
Then brother, he’s your man
Cos where it all comes from is a mystery
From Leyton Orient to the Europa League
With Pope in goal
And Barnesy doing his work
He’s the one who’s driving you beserk
La-la-la-laaa-la
La-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-laaa-la
La-la-la-la-la
(And on and on and on)

Tequila by the Tranmere fans.
Thought it was brilliant against Man Utd.
Just replace "Blue Army" with
"Dyche Army".

I like it, but I am struggling to see how the words fit the tune after looking at the lyrics for OFAH theme... I think I've got it apart from "Leyton Orient to the Europa League" that does n't seem to work for me...

The Leyton Orient line is the replacement for It's like the changing of the seasons and the tides of the sea.Zlatan wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 11:11 amI like it, but I am struggling to see how the words fit the tune after looking at the lyrics for OFAH theme... Bit of a tongue twister perhaps, but the syllables are close

Thanks for the encouragement.
To be expected I suppose, as per my comment of folk putting down others without contributing themselves, hence why the atmosphere is as it is at the moment.
A reflection of society unfortunately.

A bit of what is known as 'tortured rhyming' in the trade but a decent effort. As for 'please be gentle' with you on here you may as well try telling a starving lion you don't taste too good, but if you have a good sense of humour and the skin of a rhino you'll be fine.

Re: Atmosphere and new chants
Just think if Dyche managed to win us the league instead of having that rubbish Andrea Bocelli singing Nessun Dorma we could have the legend that is John Sullivan belting out the Only Fools and Horses theme tune whilst Mee lifted the trophy.
How classy would that be?

Re: Atmosphere and new chants
Very good effort but I'd say its beyond the majority of our fans. Hymn sheets pre match might help

Re: Atmosphere and new chants
Actually the "Only Fools and Horses" theme is quite apt for certain Football clubs...Lyrical Dancer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 10:04 amFirst time poster (after many years of reaching with interest), so please be gentle.
