£4m with a year and a half on his contract, seems very low and odd for a high goalscorer!

£10m for a player we were not paying £10m for, seems exceptionally high!

Odd.

Bristol City have our pants down if Wells is only going there for £4mil. Hope it's more than that!

Boden just tweeting about Brownhill now...after the story broke yesterday evening. Does he still pretend to be in the know on transfers?

Excellent. Just the sort of signing we should be making.

Funny how Wells suddenly becomes worth trillions when we finally agree to sell him

Its obvious Well's value has been used as a makeweight for getting Brownhill in.

Not sure he does pretend. Gossip queens like Nixon take care of that. Don't get the obsession anyway, just tell me when someone has signed.

Maybe he's one of those journalistic sports dinosaurs who reports on things he's seen and offers an opinion rather than copy and pasting rumours off the internet. Probably explains while he'll be out of a job soon to be fair.

It could well be how clubs wish to announce the split to fans, softens the blow to their fans losing their captain if they mark his value higher in the transfer.

Probably not to be fair though :)

After the rumours earlier in the week I decided to watch the Bristol city match on Tuesday evening. He looked to be an above average midfield playmaker. Was also doing a fair bit of defensive work. Stood out as their best player by a long way.

Maybe the reason for the alleged low valuation on Wells is because Burnley may have to pay a percentage to Huddersfield over what they paid for him.

A typical Burnley signing and I mean that in the best possible way.

- Young
- proven in a tough league
- leadership qualities

Should the worst happen and we go down, we will be primed for another instant return.

We may be slow at getting players signed but I have never doubted our ability to get a great price from our sales (the sale of Vokes and Gray was good business). Wells did not have a queue of people wanting to buy him. If £4m is too cheap the likes of Forest and others would have stepped in by now. Lets not forget the window closes tomorrow

Odd.
We have signed a player for 1 million pounds cheaper than he would have been in the summer (and that’s if he would then choose us) and also got a striker off the payroll who was deemed not good enough by coaching staff to even sit on the bench
Tremendous business

Makes sense to undervalue both from our point of view so that there is no profit from Wells and nothing owed to Huddersfield. This cunning plan was aired by another poster somewhere on here yesterday. Maybe he advises the Board and Mike Rigg?

So we “screwed” (their words) Huddersfield over the Neil Hart/CEO and now because we haven’t made a profit on Wells they won’t get anything from the deal.

They are going to really love us

Seen lots of Bristol fans disappointed to see him leave. Captain at 24, box to box midfielder who is decent on the ball. Sounds like a good fit.

When do we reckon his first start will be?

If someone said at the start of this season we'd get 4m for Wells we'd have snapped their hand off. But after a good half-season in the championship you maybe expect nearer 6m. At least we're getting a much needed centre midfielder.

Is he someone who is best in the middle, but can also cover out wide on the right... so a replacement for Hendrick?

I wouldn't be surprised if we've signed him to play in the Hendrick role from next season. But at least Cork and Westwood will have some genuine competition now.

I know it's all about opinions but for the life of me I can't understand why some people think any new midfield, who we may or may not sign will replace Jack Cork. JC has been more or less ever present since he returned at the start of the 17/18 season and has been a major contributor to our success. I personally don't see that situation changing any time soon.

No rush for him to become a first 11 regular this season. Joining us in Jan gives a great opportunity for him to settle in, get used to the players and get up to speed with what Dyche expects.

Tarks, Ward, Taylor and Westwood all came in as backup and grew in to fantastic first 11 players so no need to put the lad under too much pressure to shine immediately this season

Andy Lochead was a major contributor to our success, but I wouldn't pick him now.

Cork is the obvious one in need of "upgrade". He's not had the best of times for 18 months now.
