On the way home from work seen there is a huge deposit box by the side of centenary way encouraging people to hand in their knives and other weapons.
While Burnley does have its issues I’ve never known it to be a particular problem in the town. Has that changed? Seems odd.

We had a knife amnesty opposite where I lived, manned by a couple of Police Community Officers.
All I saw, or anyone else I spoke to saw, was elderly people getting rid of kitchen knives.
Of course it has reduced the major threat of krinklies attacking each other with bread knives but I'm not sure that was the point. Still I suppose a box has been ticked.

I saw this today as I was sat in traffic. Firstly, it’s not just a knife amnesty, but also has a machete and sword deposit box as well.
However, it’s location leaves much to be desired as it’s on the barrieried dual carriage-way bit by Calico. Having nowhere to park adjacent to it I can imagine the scene as someone walks through the underpass from Buzz bingo armed with a 3ft sword on the way to the amnesty bin. Or wandering through the bus station tooled up with a machete.

I too utilised said receptacle and placed my trusty old chopper in the slot. A&E confirmed that the stitches and tetanus should ensure I will be ok.
